I was recently realeased from prison in Nebraska and have moved to Los Angeles, California with the 100 dollars and bus ticket they gave me. I'm homeless and have been here for two months. I am 21 years old, male, and healthy. This makes it pretty much impossible to get help. There's been tons of jobs that I can get but with living in shelters, which will no longer be open after march 15, and no where to put my stuff but carry it, I cannot work. I have a highschool diploma, and 1 year of college completed. I want to go to barber school, but I have no money and no where to live. I've tried to get into every program available in LA and have been unsuccessful. I cannot get a loan from a bank b/c I have not had an account open for atleast 3 months. If anyone is willing to loan me 15,000 dollars at any interest rate up to 25% over a 5 year period with me paying you back with $250.00 a month please contact me. I have references if you want them. I'll sign a notarized contract. Sum1 plz help

Here's a website with resources:
http://www.reentry.net/ny/
http://www.opensocietypolicycenter.org/resources/publication.php?docId=92
(the whole link won't appear but you can google open society policy center)

This one is for California:
http://www.reentry.gov/sar/ca.html
www.ucop.edu/cprc/parole.html

You can google prison reentry + california to get more information.

Good luck.

Go to the DOC and ask for their help. There is not a doubt in my mind that prison or the thought of walking into DOC is a problem for you, but they may be able to help. Otherwise, admit yourself into a 30-day program for stress related issues. That will help you, feed you, keep you clothed. Asking people for money with a notarized statement isn't the way to go. Go to a truck stop and see if you can get a job there as a dishwasher, or anything. You are bound to meet someone, if you have true initiative and ambition, and someone will help you. Asking for money? No. You might try a church. You just have to be truly ready to change your life around and be honest. Don't make promises you are not sure you can keep. You do not know what lies ahead, not even for tomorrow. Construction sites might be an answer as well. Good luck.
