Which way is the best way to file income tax for 2006 - claim her or let her file herself and then be independent on the fafsa. I'm not sure which way will offer the most financial aid. We have 2 in college.

YES YES YES... I got nothing but loans when I was a dependent. When I filed independent, I got my school paid for (I was in RA in the dorms for grad school, so no housing fees) and I got 3000 a year for books and fun money. All paid BY THE GOVERNMENT YAY!!!!!

The only problem I forsee is she is not 25 yet and that may stop her

If she's going to file as an independent, make sure she meets @ least 1 of the requirements for it that are outlined on the fafsa. B/c my school asked for proof when I tried to do it. I ended up getting the run-around and eventually had to re-apply as a dependent.
