i am a current student at a college and i finacial aid pays for all of my classes, but doesn't pay for my books or supplies. My first semester at the college they filled out the loan papers with me, then i approved for the loan. This time my college said that if i wanted another student loan to contact my lender for another loan. I want some money to buy a newer computer. The lender said to contact my college, that they should fill out the paper work i need. I am confused and don't know what to do. Any advice about this problem?

I get grants to pay for college and it covers tuition and books, but I was wanting to get a student loan for the summer to take a class and use the rest to get a car and maybe a computer. If I do this will I not be able to get grants again bc they may think I have enough money for tuition since I got a loan. I've already applied for the my grant in the fall.

Currently I am taking 12 hours but I was thinking of maybe dropping a class so therefore I would be 9 hours...now will this affect my financial aide for next semester I want to attend? Will I be denied or reduced? Currently I attend University of Houston....not sure if that makes a diffrence....and I got a grant as well as loans....thanks!

The person owing the debt has a name very, very similar to mine. But I am not that person and I do not owe the debt. This person has been able apparently to skip paying perhaps because the collection agencies do not ever actually contact the person. In cycles I get phone calls from nasty debt collectors. I give them the information I have about the person they need to contact. I've written letters to collection agencies. I've contacted my state's attorney general. Now tonight I have gotten another call from a past collection agency trying again. After at least ten years, wouldn't you think they would get the message that they have the wrong information? I don't think this can be called identity theft because they have the debtor's name and social security number. They do not have mine. What can I do to stop these people from calling me?

I screwed around when I was younger and only have like 12 hours going into this whole thing. I am almost 24, divorced, mom of 1, taking a new job in 2 weeks that I am sure wont get me anywhere in 5 years. Is there any hope for ME?????

I basically got a "full-ride" with the exeption of room and board/medical insurance/ books and supplies. Is this because scholarships/grants don't cover these expenses. If i get outside scholarships to pay for these expenses will my other awards be reduced- and basically end up being the same thing? Any useful info is appreciated, thanks!

I am afraid I won't be able to afford the tuition. How can I go full time, cover living expenses, books, and manage credit card debt in the thousands, and other bills? I feel so overwhelmed. Should I just not try at all and go for a cheaper school? I really want to shoot for the best.

I plan to attend a community college in California; I am an Illinois resident.

My Pell grant will be $4,000 but I do not have enough money.

My parents make little money, so I think I would get a federal subsidized loan.

The maximum amount for that loan is $3,500.

To attend the community college I want to go to, it will be $6,000 for my first year.

So, I was wondering if I get a federal subsidized loan, will I be able to use some of the extra $1,500 for car expenses.

I am 2,000 miles from the college. Or does the money from the stafford loan only have to be used for education??

Oh, the $6,000 to attend the college is just the bare minimum number of classes that is considered full-time.

Any help would be appreciated!

My wife and I owe over $150,000 in student debt with interest rates around 9-11% on each loan. Is it better to just refinance our house and pay it all off, for a lower monthly payment and interest rate?

I went to college for a brief period, but didn't like the school and decided to change my major. I'm currently paying back the loan I accumilated while I was there. It's a government loan through Sallie Mae. I was just wondering if I went back to college, would I stop paying the loan while I was in school, and just pay it after I graduate? I couldn't afford to go back right now if I had to continue paying the loan while I went to school, so I need to know. Thanks! :)

Do you know of any good student loan companies/programs in NC?

I'm about to take out a private student loan through Chase/JP Morgan. 13,000 dollars total at 8.49% orgination fee(Ouch). 11.54% APR(Ouch Ouch). I've opted to pay interest only while in school. I've done the FAFSA thing and am getting grants but need more cash on hand to focus completely on school and grades instead of dividing my time between school and work. My community college isn't authorized by the federal govt. to work with students on any loans whatsoever so it's just me and my credit worth cosigner at this point. Can you save me with your great advice?
