I found out I got into NYU a few days ago as a communications major. Today I found out I will be getting next to nothing from financial aid and would have to take out some serious loans. Do you think NYU is worth the 48 grand a year? And if you are a student there what is NYU really like?

I need a student loan to pay off old debt owed to the university I attend. I have applied twice already for private loans, one turned me down (Chase), and Sallie Mae said I need a co-signor which I do not have. I have no family to ask my mother is a recovring alcoholic and drug user, father a deadbeat and I am the single parent of three already working two jobs and attending class full time. I have two semesters unitl I graduate. Should I keep applying for loans while having inquires on my credit which I have worked on for the last two years (limiting inquires, and paying down debts) or just apply for loans until someonw helps me. I do not want the inquires to delay me further when trying to buy a home later in the future. What to do??

I am looking for a place where I can get personal grants, or something like that (free money basically). I do work full time, but my Fiancè is at college and cannot work much. We are getting married this summer and need to get some money for that among various other things like bills and repairs for our house and cars.

I do not want any fake or hokey sites, they are all scams. I do not want any of those "Refer 10 other people and get so much money" deals, they are all scams as well. I want a free, legal and legitimate way to get some money without taking out a large loan, since I already have a credit card, car loan, mortgage payment, etc.

Is there such a thing?

Thanks in advance!

Well... I am nearing the last 16 weeks of my education. It has been a long road and the end is finally near. Unfortunatly I got slammed with a series of unexpected medical bills and made some serious errors in trying to deal with them.

I don't have any family to go to for help and I have been turned down for every loan I have tried for. The reason... This is amusing... As a Federal Work Study Student I don't make enough money to qualify for the loan that I need because I don't make enough money.

I managed to handle my tuition and thanks to friends who have taken the classes before me have aquired the books. I am living off of less than $600 a month right now. I wouldn't be opposed to picking up a new job if I could find one near enough to the school (I don't drive) that would work with my schedule. But I am not making enough to pay for rent, food, and other needs (such as for example detergent for laundry atm) luckily my internet is free thankfully. I need about $2000 to finish.

I have heard that an employer will not hire you if you have done so. Is this correct?
