I found out I got into NYU a few days ago as a communications major. Today I found out I will be getting next to nothing from financial aid and would have to take out some serious loans. Do you think NYU is worth the 48 grand a year? And if you are a student there what is NYU really like?

Some people love it, others are miserable.
I know for myself that it's worth it, even though I'll graduate with major debt, I am confident I'll get a good job to pay it off.
You can't quantify happiness, but all I know is I'm happier than I have ever been and I can't imagine having as much fun anywhere else. (I should mention my family did not think I would do well in this setting so don't put too much weight on what they say).

I recommend you spend some time on campus to get a feel for it. No one can really help you decide.

NYU is great. I love it. Nothing, however is worth $50k a year. Tuition goes up every year so buy a loan stabilizer. For something like $2,000 a year, your tuition will stay the same price for the full for years. (Roughly saving you 10k, more or less)

Tuition has been going up over 5% every year.

2004: around 27K/yr
2007: around 38K/yr

NYU is great tho.
