The best place is to start searching for scholarships now since it is almost April. Application deadlines are fast approaching. There is a scholarship for almost anything including wearing duct tape to the senior prom. I will include some free places to locate scholarships.

First, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.

Second, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Third, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for current high school students to apply for consideration.

Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites. There are scholarships for a variety of things including ethnicity, clubs, hobbies, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered onto a form on the website.

Good luck!

Check out scholarships, you can find information from your school's guidance counselor. Remember - never pay for scholarship information, it's just a scam! You can always get the scholarship information for free.

Also, student loans are a good way to go. Again, your guidance counselor will have information about this to give to you. The best kind (I'm not sure what they're called) are the kind where you don't have to pay anything while you're in school or for a short time after you graduate, and after that, they have a low interest rate.

Probably the cheapest way to get the diploma you want is to start at your local community college and live at home for your first two years, then go to the cheapest college in your state that offers the program that you want. I actually had better teachers overall at the community college I went to than at the state university I went to for the second half of college. Make sure that you figure out where you are going to want to go after you're done at community college, so you can make sure that your credits will transfer correctly. Again, see the counselors at the community college, but don't rely on them to make sure you are taking the correct classes and will finish when you want, that part is up to you. Get the catalog for both colleges, and get the schedule for the community college, and visit their websites to see about how credits will transfer. Some colleges have a nice thing set up where the courses will transfer perfectly. You should also look into getting an associates degree at the community college and see how that would transfer to the state university.

Good luck! :) Good for you for wanting to go to college.

There are also student loans--money you have to pay back, but it will definitely help while you're in school. Some are interest bearing, some aren't. The best way to look at all the available options, is to go to the college's (or even your high school) guidance counselor. Congratulations and best of luck---take it from me, it will all be worth it in the end!!

There is a program that works with local grocery stores. You register your grocery card with their website and a portion of all the purchases go to paying for college.
