She needs a better job to provide for herself and the baby. The father is a foreigner who has retreated to his homeland so no help there. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Im going to law school next semester and the only thing that worries me is not being able to get a GradPlus loan because of a credit check...I dont know what my credit score is, i just graduated from college so I've never worked full time, however, Ive paid off about 4 grand in student loans already from college, and every month for 3 yrs my credit cards are paid off w/o ever receiving a finance charge......Has anybody personally or know someone that has been turned down for a GradPlus Loan?

Serious answers please

Scholarships and Financial Aid
Out-of-State Tuition: $32,100
Undergraduate receiving need-based financial aid: 39%
Average freshman total need-based gift aid: $26,544
Direct Lender: No

Does it mean that total cost is $32,100 and the amount of money you need from financial aid is 39%? If thats the case then why would you have to pay $26,544? What direct lender?

My spouse's work is setting up a simple IRA for work. It will be 100 percent matched up to 3% of her salary, and vested instantly. Unfortunately I will be going on rotations for school soon, and we will be moving away from the area. So the total amount that she will be putting away will be roughly $800 (which will be matched to 1600) We dont really like any of the investment choices, and the administrating company will be charging a fee, as well as the fund where the money is put. We would rather use it for my school bill next year (which runs about about 27,000yr not including living expenses) and use money that we would have put into the school bill to open her a retirement account (probably a roth, we dont make enough to get even close to having the money to be putting the max away). Can this be done without any penalty (i.e. the extra 10% surcharge taken on early disbursements) Can the company someone-how keep us from withdrawing the money if we dont keep it for 2 yrs? Thanks all!!

I was, until recently, enrolled at a beauty school. I had a mild run in with another student. I asked her outside of school if she would refrain from talking about me at school. Little did I know, my request would set her off. She ended up harassing me at school, and even had some others start in. I was highly stressed out and upset, so I went to the director. I won't say what was being said, but it was bad enough that I was in the director's office twice. I was told I should just get over it. She said she didn't want to speak to the girl because of an upcoming test. She said she didn't want to "stress her out". I had enough that day, so I quit. I want to go to a different school but I think the first school won't release my transcripts until I pay for the time I spent there. (200 hours) I had a pell grant for about $2500. So should I try to get them to reduce the amount since the director did nothing?

Where in Wisconsin, could I apply for a grant for summer camp for my teen? She will be 16, and I've applied for a grant with the agency that she will be attending, but they've only allowed funding for 1 program. Because Milwaukee has practically turned into a warground, with talk of getting National Guards here, I'd think it best she camp all summer long because she is prone to be a victim out here with associations. I could go on and Bash Milwaukee, but it accomplishes nothing.

Milwaukee has managed to eliminate a lot of programs here for teens, thereby leaving very little for them to do in the summer months but hang out. We all know this causes problems in itself, and the fact that the law is lenient on them because they "are minors". Skating rinks are minimal, Drive-in has disappeared, Summer Jobs? Wow.

If we had a teen club focused with the old Ice Cream parlor theme, and non sexual music, and non violent music, with security and structure, we could see improvemnent

I'm a mother of a 4 month old baby and I am trying to do an online School Program through Allied Medical School so I can get certified in Medical Coding and Billing. My friends tell me that Mass Health Insurance pays for they're members to attend school. I've tried looking on their website for information but haven't found anything yet. Is this true? If so what do I need to do so i can get this done.

I got a letter in the mail today describing my financial aid that my school will give me. I guess i will need to take out some loans since I do not have the money to pay for it, but all of the loans they provide (Stafford, Student PLUS etc) all have extremely high interest rates 7-8.5%. Is this normal? Is there any other decent place where I can borrow money for a lot cheaper??

Also, should I take the loan out in my name, or my parents name? My parents will contribute less than $3000 to my education, and I will have to pay the majority of it.

Thank you

I never took one out before and i would like to know how they work. so far i only know that student loans repayment does not start until graduation or 6 months after graduation.

my questions are:

1. are the loans affiliated with school? or are they separate private entities ilke citi, chase, etc

2. how does the loan get to me? does it come by check in the mail and i cash it and pay it to the school as if its like my own money?, or do i have to provide proof of the tuition bill first in order to get the loan money.

3. what are the requirements to get a student loan? i am almost done with community college and im going to a 4 yr school in the fall. is it a complicated processs and does it take awhile to get through?

thank you all for your responses.
