I'm going to be studying interior design online this fall. I was wondering if everyone knows how I should pay for it: scholarships, government loans, financial aid. What have you done?

I have been approved for the whole first year. My loans are through Sallie Mae. From your experience/knowledge, will I be approved for the rest of college? Any idea what my chances are? I'm not sure this isn't a silly question, I just never thought to ask until now... What set me to wondering is that when I tried to take out an extra loan to help me with living expenses I was denied (to any critics, yes I work full time as a vet's receptionist, no I do not eat out or get highlights, and I still need help!) :-) I'm nervous that I won't get approved for next year's school... Also, will my chances next year be any better for taking out a loan for living expenses so I can move out of my parents house? Thank you for reading this; any information is greatly appreciated! -Laura To clarify: my questions are 1) Will I be approved for next year's loans, and 2) will my chances of being approved for a 'living expenses' loan be improved next time around?

I got my award letter and it stated that i would get 22,460.00 yearly from the school. The only problem is that its $40,716 (everything included; direct and indirect educational expenes). I know that there is no way for me to afford to go to this school with what they are giving me a year. My question is how might i go about asking for more aid. This is my number one college too so i could prob add that somewhere.

Any suggestions on how to go about this will be great.

What exactly is a Scholarship? And how does it work? My from understanding..its something that gives you financial support for your studies, right?

Do they cover your living cost aswell, or just your school fees basically?

Do international scholarships work in the same way?

So then what happens after you´re finished studying, do you have to pay back the money you got from your scholarship after you´ve gotten a job and everything?

And i know this is kind of a stupid question but.. im asking this because..i kind of really dont know if im asking all of the right questions or if i know enough about scholarships and everything..so If i wanted to apply for an international scholarship, what kind of questions should i be asking? I mean should i get some financial advice? Are scholarships subject-specific or can i choose any subject?

when you take out a student loan for school, will it show up on your credit report? If it shows up do they use it to calculate your fico score as far as debt to income ratio, or if you make timely payments does that play into your score? Is it held against you if you try to buy a house.

I have about 28,000 in student loans. about 5,000 is fixed at 6.8% and the rest is variable rates, around 7%. I graduated in December and am still in my grace period. So should I consolidate now, where I would get about 6.75% interest rate to start out or should I wait and see if I can get a lower interest rate in the future. I've heard there's a chance interest rates could take a big dive in the next few months.
