My highschool studen counsil is doing fundraising for the freshmen class (mine). Does anyone have a sugestion?

We have already came up with a few ideas but we might not get very much, and the freshmen class bank needs more money in order to put one great events as sophomores.

How much money do you need to raise? And how many students are in the entire class? If you get a clear idea of how much each student needs to raise, then ideas on how to raise it will be easier to come up with. (For example, if you need to raise $1000 total, and you have 100 students, then you know each student needs to raise at least $10).

I have a suggestion: Instead of just one fundraiser, why not divide your class into teams and let each team try a different activity? And the teams could use the "competition" as kind of a publicity stunt the newspapers could cover as a community interest story? The first team to raise their % of the money, wins (whatever 'prize' is agreed upon, make it something wacky and fun, like they get to make the principal kiss a pig, the other freshman have to dress up as nerds for a day).

Anyway, each team gets to pick a fundraising activity from a pre-approved list. Have the each student draw a number from a container (100 students= ten teams = numbers from one to ten= 10 of the number 1, 10 of the number 2, etc).

Some suggestions for team fundraisers:

Penny drive (Could be a door-to-door collection, and/or jars set out in local businesses for donation of pennies).
Car wash
Bake sales
Pet show
Bazaar
Sponsor a dance, 50s Sock Hop, Car Show, Poker run.
Bicycle rodeo.
Sell popcorn, flower seeds, cookies, magazines, chocolate bars, etc.

Have a Freshman Carnival. Set up booths for fortune-telling, ring toss, guess-your-weight, guess-your-age, dunking booth, face-painting or tattoo painting, kissing booth, baseball throwing booth, chicken bingo.

Here are some ideas:
- get flowers/cards and have people pay to send them to each other in class. So they'll sign up with you for a week and then on that friday you'll bring around the cards/flowers to people who are recieving them.
- bingo night
- fashion show
- dance contest or dance off (dance contest is who can dance the best and dance off is who can dance the longest but still dance well)
- mock of american idol
- comedy night
- open mic. night (have an open microphone and people can get up and read poetry, play music, etc.. as they please)
- run/walk and you can get donations per mile ran/walked
- petting zoo (find people in the community with different kinds of pets)
- someone can teach a craft
- game show night (copy some game show like family fued)
- bake sale
- raffle
- sponsors from local businesses
- movie night
- social
- car wash
- can/bottle drive
- culture night, you can have drums from all different cultures. This would be so fun. Most cultures have different drums.
- culture food night or just regular dinner. Have people make different dishes. This always makes money, people love food.
Get some entertainment for that night too. It could be a big hit.

Our community holds Basket Bingo games. You can get local companies and business to donate items or services to make up the baskets. Also chinese auctions are fun and can be profitable. Our local JROTC program also sells cards for discounts at local business and resturants.
