I have read the websites and other sources but I want to hear from personal experiences. Does Mercer really give good financial aid packages? Approxiamately how much? Did you have to take out a large amount of loans to cover the rest of the balance?

How much financial aid do you think they would give someone like me. I live in a household of 6 and together my parents make around $47,000 a yr. I will be the only one in college in my family because my other siblings are young. I have a 3.8 GPA also.

Thanks for the input and remember I want personal experiences. Not just some info from off collegeboard.com or something. I want information from either yourself or a friend/relative you know that has been there.

Thanks again everyone.

I have debt a little over $7,000. I was unemployed for awhile and just now getting back to paying my regular bills i.e. car, mortgage, phone, gas, and food. I'm just making enough to pay these bills but I want to stop the incurring interest on my credit cards so I can pay them off completely by 2008. What do you suggest?

Has anyone had or know of a way to get financial assistance for a child of a disabled parent? My daughter has a two year degree and is 18. she desperately wants to continue on and is a straight A student. I'm on disability and we don't have a rich uncle. It would be a horrible waste of talent for her not to go to college. I have looked for special grants for these types of children but am having a hard time. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much pammi ps we live in MN

I just got a cut-off notice from my electrice company for $400. They recommended I go to churches, DHS, etc. I have done those, but no help was to be found. I will be without lights by Monday. Even saying I had a 4 and 7 year old grandchild to raise did not even effect them. What am I to do?

The reason why I ask this question is because I attended a University that I didn't like, took a year off from college to raise money for another school and I still can't afford to attend another school without burying myself in loans. I was wondering if there were any places I could get grants/scholarships for those who aren't in High School being that most Scholarships/grants are for high school seniors.

I'm planning on going back to school this year but was told by the department of job and family services that I would have to wait and see if they get funding for WIA. I'm freaking out because it's almost April and classes start in September.I want everything to go smoothly this year. If I don't get a grant from WIA, I'm looking at being around $5,000 short for my tuition. I applied for WIA once before and I wasn't qualified because I was already enrolled. Anyways, I'm worried. Does anyone have any idea when WIA would be getitng funds?

Hey there all - a buddy of mine asked if I knew of any places that might be able to help her financially go back to nursing school - and I was stumped.
She would like to quit her job and go full time - are there any other options than student loans that you know of?
Thanks a bunch

I mean, I composed one that was pretty good in my opinion.. I really did feel like it was convincing enough..

But i was just wondering if I left something out that would've made me get a better shoe in.. Like, what really convinces the reviewers that you're in real need for financial aid (personally).. I'm not talking about "Oh just tell them ur 'estimated family contribution' or something".. I'm talking about, what else?!

I've already explained (in my previous letter to a scholarship) how my family strived hard to come to the US & how it was hard on EACH of us to adapt, not just financial-wise either..

But yah, if any of y'all were able to write a good letter, give me suggestions.. cuz the last one I wrote for a region scholarship, i didn't get.. and I even included REALLY impressive accomplishments I've done (such as being Valedictorian, captain/commander/president of numerous things, big on community service, and so forth).. so PLEASE help me out!

remove myself from the teaching position interview and go for the counseling position which I would really like? Or, should I go ahead and interview for both and take my chances? It is clear that I may not even get an interview for the counseling position, and I already have an interview scheduled for the
teaching position. I was interviewed earlier for a middle school position at the same school, and was not hired. Any advice?
