I'm a student and each year I don't need to submit any of my tax forms to the Office of Financial Aid when it comes to my FAFSA. The only time they require you to submit copies of tax forms is when you are eligible for a Pell Grant, at which point they will need a copy of your W-2's (and a copy of your parent's as well if you are under age 23).
*****NEW INFO: That other person said that I am wrong, but I've been doing my FAFSAs every year and know very well what is required of me and the tax forms that they require me to submit. Like I said, you let them know whether you have filed or not and submit copies of the W-2's only if they say you're Pell-eligible. Your best bet would be to contact the Financial Aid Office at your college though. Good luck!!!

college girls answer is totally wrong. You will have to submit tax forms to your financail aid off ice if your application is selected for verification either byt he federal processor or by the school, or if they review your application and need clarification on any info they see there.
Each school has their own policies as to what specific forms they collect. If they are asking for all federal forms, schedules, and W-2's then submit all forms you turned into the IRS. You will not need to turn in any state tax forms.

The IRS and FAFSA are suitable. If the tax varieties submitted do no longer tournament what's declared on the FAFSA, you would be chosen for verification. If those varieties do no longer tournament the IRS counsel mentioned, you would be denied investment and may additionally get chosen for an IRS audit. do no longer mess around purely to squeeze out some extra funds of help.

College girl is right in my opinion. From my experience, I don't turn any tax forms in. I'm not even elegible to get a Pell grant, so I dont submit copies of anything. I just report how much I made for the year and how much my parents made together.

I would think for something as important as financial aid, you would know how it works at your school or could easily go to their fin aid website. We have no idea what school you even go to, how the heck do we know what you need to submit? At my school you need to submit a verification form and copies of tax returns, but as you can see from the other answers, it works differently at other schools.
