You may be able to find grants from private foundations.

If you are talking about grants to attend college or university, this is usually done with your college application. You can talk with the registrars office for more info. But, if you are talking about grants for other purposes, you can get info from Grants.gov (www.grants.gov) and the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (www.cfda.gov).

You should know that (other than the college ones) government grants are not easy to get. They require a ton of paperwork, so they take weeks or longer to get the paperwork done. Then, it usually takes the government months to return their decision (and the funds, if approved). Organizations that use grants usually have employees on staff whose entire full-time job is grant paperwork (and grant consultants can charge big $$ for their services). And finally, grants usually come with strings attached -- so you have to report back to the agency on your use of the grant, and if you don't use the grant for the intended purpose, it could be taken back.
