I started college in 2002 and stopped attending after the spring of 2004 semester. After my six month grace period, I entered deferment on my federal loans and I'm not entirely certain about my private loans. I then started college again in the spring of 2005 so my deferment/forbearance period became a period of in-school deferment/forbearance. I stopped attending after that semester and since I had already used my six month grace period, I immediately began making repayments. I have been back in college now for the past year and will be so for another year to come. I contacted my lender and was told I could have in-school forbearance. I am unsure whether or not this guy was entirely certain about what he was telling me! Does any one know if I can enter another period of in-school forbearance after having already been in one for just one semester a couple years ago?

There are all these people on here saying that they're about to graduate from college or get a degree or something, but they can't spell worth a crap. If you can't spell scholarship, then you don't need to be graduating from college..... :|

Rising tuition costs, private lenders (Sallie Mae, Wells Fargo, Citibank) offering their "private loans" to students that carry outrageous interest, and less payment flexibility than a credit card, kickbacks for financial aid officers.... Where does it end? What needs to be done to make education affordable, and reign in the corrupt student lenders that are strangling all of the money out of new college graduates?

My husband partied when he was first in college and ruined his GPA. Now he is more mature and is looking at going back to school. We are wondering if his GPA will ruin his chances of getting a student loan.

I'm in the hole about $6000 dollars...freakin credit cards.

Anyway - I need about $4000 for school.

Is there a way I can take out a student loan if I have bad credit? Or are they going to deny me?

If a loan isnt the answer, any suggestions on how to get money for school?

I live in GA and I've received a scholarship that pays for all of my tuition and books except for 296.42. My father should be happy to pay it considering he makes six figures, but whenever he gets pissed...he's extremely selfish and nasty and will throw it in my face. He said he would pay, but at this point in my life at 19...I'm tired of him and how selfish he is...I dont want his help anymore, but I dont know how I can come up with 296.42. What can I do to pay for the rest of my books?

I am looking to increase my income thru higher education. I live paycheck to paycheck and desire financial independence. I believe studies in risk management, insurance and finance will open a world of opportunities. I have googled grants in many different aspects...... only to be flooded with a variety of options. I am looking for an absolute resource that is in place thru the government for women like me. If you have any information regarding solid grant options for education, business and/or real estate investments for african american women or women in general, please forward me your information. Thanks for any help you may lend to the matter?

Best regards,

After this year im going to collage, go class of 2007 lol. But i was looking to go into Computer Science in Watertown NY. Always been good with computers and good in school with them, espcailly web page desgin, kind of thing. But seeing of course collage isnt cheap.

So i was just wondering a few things about it, like if you guys knew anything about the course and if it was a good idea and would be able to get a good job from it. And also how the collage bill thing works, Im hoping to get about 1,500 from scholarships and i got about 1,000 in my bank, which isnt alot

And how does it work to have to pay it off. Is it mainly after you graduate from collage you start paying it off. Or is it so much at a time. Im looking forward to going and stuff but still always stressed about paying for it and everything working out for the best.

Thank you to all answers and help

I'm a sophomore in highschool with a steady 3.6-3.8 GPA. I'm a year ahead in math and in spanish (which I've taken three years of already), and am in Honors Biology. In my junior and senior years, I intend on taking other honors and advanced classes, including debate, anthropology, Forensics, and Advanced Composition. I plan on going into forensics, specifically working with DNA in relation to crime. To be honest, I'm dead-set on it.

Money's beyond tight for us, and I have two colleges in mind (Albion and Ferris), but both are extremely expensive, and I'm afraid my GPA isn't enough to get enough of a scholarship.

What I'm asking, is should I get everything I can manage at Schoolcraft, and then try to transfer to one of these two schools after to save some money? Or would this be too much of a hassle and/or look bad, since I was going to such a cheap college for a while? Are there some other good colleges for forensics in MI that aren't so expensive?

I'm a nursing student working towards a degree as an RN. I've heard that most hospitals and other places will pay back student loans for nurses.....it's called "loan forgiveness." Is this true?? Should i worry about taking out too much for student loans?
