As long as you do not exceed $138,500 in student loans, you will still be eligible for federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans while in law school. You will be eligible for $20,500 per year. You can also apply for a GradPLUS loan for the balance. These are also government loans with the same provisions of the sub and unsub loans with a slightly higher interest rates. There is a credit check but if you are going in 3-4 years, you have time to clean up your credit a bit before applying for a GradPLUS.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, the Pell Grant does not exist after someone graduates with their Bachelors Degree. The only alternative to the student loans is through scholarships and savings. I recommend starting a 529 plan and join Upromise. Encourage family members to join Upromise in order to save more with their help. I will list some places to locate scholarship money for law school. Good luck!
