I feel like my monthly payments are way too high for the amount I borrowed. Consolidation options only made the payment term longer. Is there anything else I can do?

This is a REALLY long story..heh...

I have a private TERI loan through AES. Apparently I am in 'repayment' status even though I have been attending school full time. I have contacted AES and they are going to see if I still qualify for forbearence. (I was off for a few months during the summer semister during 2005 and THIS is what caused this #$*%# debockle). However, a CA has been contacting me demanding a 2500 dollar payment saying my loan will go into default. What should I do? AES has my documents I faxed in regardeing deferment/forbearence. What if I still owe a little money? I am currently unemployed due to lack of child care for my son.

I anxiously want to go back to nursing school. I have a one year old son who deserves nothing but the best. And the only way he can get that is if I have an education.

I went to college right out of high school. I did not do great. I did not have the drive and my GPA is low. I went back a few years later and then my dad left my mom and I had to take care of my brothers. So.. out again. I am back in now. And doing well.
I..by the way since high school have worked full time. Which makes school tough.
Anyway.. I have a low GPA so I can't get loans until I improve. I make decent money but not enough to pay for school in the fall. (right now, I am only taking one class and can swing it...barely)
So.. does anyone know of resources for a almost 30 year old to get money for school? (without having a baby) I have looked into the Fastweb site and if I had time, I would try to write some essays for money... but with going to class and working.. it's hard to find the extra time to write the darn things.
If someone has any resources, I would greatly appreciate it. I am at the end of my rope and don't want to give up on my future.

I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of sources are available for affording college if you come from an underpriviledge family? I will be attending my second year of college which have been paid through grants but after 2 years, pheaa will no longer pay, only pell will. I would take out loans except my parents and myself have poor credit. I could work full time and go to school full time but then I am taking a chance of having my grades slip. Any suggestions?

In your experiences, where is the threshhold of income at which your financial aid was affected? That is, how much money did you have to earn before your eligibility for grants (Pell, etc) started disappearing? $10,000? $20,000?

I'm a single, independent-status student, so obviously my threshhold would be lower than that someone who has children or dependants, but higher than that of someone who is a dependent student living with parents.

My annual cost of attendance is just over $13k. It's a state school.

I'm in a bit of a situation. I need to be able to defer my federal student loans for about a year because I currently cannot afford them. I need to defer payments so that I can afford to purchase health care for myself (about a year until I receive my teaching certification). I researched the criteria for deferment based on economic hardship, but I don't qualify because my income is too high. Also, I am on the lowest payment plan offered already, so am at a loss. Looks like I have to choose between having health care and not being delinquent. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to temporarily defer these loan payments?

I consoldiated, my loans last year I am not scheduled to graduate until May of '08, and I am getting letters stating that I need to start making my payments in May of '08. Also now I am being told that I cannot get defferments, because I consoldiated my loan and that waves my right to deffer payments. I did it because they said we had to in order to keep our current rates. Someone told me that they weren't supposed to let me consoldate because I was in a jonoir standing any this only open to Seniors. Please help.
Thank You
