I am in default my student aid about 55k. Use to be 25k but the rest are interest and collection fees and such. Anywho, my loan is way in default and now when i am ready to pay, they say i need to pay $600.00. It is too far gone so cannot negotiate hardships or anything like that. I told them i cannot pay this amount and they pretty much told me i have no choice. If i do not pay then i get my wages garnished and my income tax taken. My question is that if i was to not pay the 600.00 monthly and pay whatever i can afford every month will this take me out of default and if so in how many months? Will this still qualify me for the dreaded garnishment of wages and income tax? I welcome any valuable information. Thanks.

The employer is closing his doors but wants to give something to this employee. We figure best route is for the employer to receive the bill from the school and then pay it directly. Are they missing any other implications or requirements? Even more, are there any sample forms/contracts out there the employer can draw up with the former employee to specify the agreement and arrangement?

Most of the ones I find are for high school students or students under 18 and it's annoying. I'm trying to find scholarships for current students/adults.

Im engaged and going to be 23, I have a 3 month old baby. Ive been a stay at home mother so far but I need an education to get beyond anything I can do right now. My fiance travels for work often and last minute usually. Childcare is so expensive here that any job based on my current education would only allow me to pay for childcare so I could work. How can I manage going to school and working and paying for childcare/babysitters for both?

I believe my parents technically still have to submit their incomes for me to get financial aid still at my age? Maybe not?
What kind of financial aid situation would I be looking at? Any mothers out there who were in the same situation? Any advice you can offer?

Say you're flying from New York to Los Angeles. If you could sit next to anyone in history, living or dead, who would it be, and why? What would you talk about?

Currently, I am an elementary school teacher, at 27 years of age. I utterly despise my career and attending school to become a doctor. At this point, I will have to resign from my teaching position by December of 2007 to pursue my education full time. I have excellent grades but am not eligible for government aid because I already have a bachelor's degree. In the past, I relied on my academic merit to obtain scholarships and other forms of aid. Now, I don't know what other options I have. The only option I can think of is to take out a student loan to cover my tuition and living expenses. I'm praying a lot, but no help there. LOL!!! I need a lot of encouragement because I'm scared. (Plus, I am not eligible for scholarships because I am taking prerequisites to take the MCAT and enter medical school).

that will look for grants, scholarships, or fellowships for you? I dont have the time to go through all of those books to look for the precise one that will fit me and my situation, (I am still paying for my masters if that helps, in that somebody could give me a break in that).

I want to attend a private high school but can't afford to pay for it. I need financial aid or a loan from a source that doesn't disqualify people with bankruptcy, chargeoffs or low credit scores. I would like information that I can use for school year 2007-2008.

I filld out my FAFSA and received a $1750 subsidized loan. If I were to receive this same amount for the next four years each semester it would be $14,000 in no interest student loans. Is this too much I know some federal loans can be repayed by working but I'm not going to be a teacher or a nurse the only two careers I know of with this option. Can anyone help it doen't sound like a lot now but I'm not sure iif I'll land the type of job right out of college to handle these types of payments. I don't even have a job right now.

This year (freshman) all of my tuition is getting payed by government financial aid. However, I need money for other things like housing and credit cards. Will a student loan affect next year's financial aid even if all of the money were spent? What kind of student loan would be better to get, private or federal?
