Depending where you live. Most aid is around 200 to 300 dollars a month and then you can get food stamps which is around the same. Sometimes it is less. You will only get it for five years of your life. This is not a good way to get a head. The father will also have to pay for child support. You will have to put all the info down about him. If you don't want him to pay there is a form you can fill out to prove that he is helping out and then they won't go after him. There is also help for housing. Go to your nearest Welfare office and they will help you. The only thing is most places tend to look down on people that go for help. Tell them you only need help for a little while, until you can get on your feet. I was only 18 when I had my first child but things have changed since then. I am now 40 years old. I know the system has changed. Don't let them bring you down. Its hard and you have to fill out lots of paper work. It can be very frustrating and stressful. Keep your head up and remember who you are doing this for. I know that when I went to school for nursing I got all but 1300 dollars paid for . Like I said the system has changed but for school I'm sure that they still have grants for you. I used the pell grant. Your books and supplies should be covered to. Go to the school and tell them your situation and they will help. Good luck

Yes you can. You can probably get the full amount of the pell grant as being a parent should grant immunity from the school considering your parents income. Talk to the financial aid office(they are the ultimate decision makers and the knowledgeable on grants, scholarships ect...) and fill out a FASFA (financial aid form) you would be surprised at what you qualify for. There is a lot more involved, such as income, than just being a parent, though it does help.

If you qualify for it. And it usually is not a lot. Depending on your state; it usually is less than $400 per month. However the medical assistant and the food stamps can help for those with low-incomes. And you can only draw a check up until your child is two years of age. Then after that you are required to go get a job. Your better off getting a paid job and go try to apply for medical card for your child and food stamps to help supplement your income. Because before you know it your baby will have turned two and you will be forced to look for a job; which means that you will be stuck without an income if you don't.

If the financial aid you could get by having a child at 18 outweighed the work, responsibility and agony of being a mother at that age then 7/8 of the 18 year old girls in the country would be having babies. I don't think so!

The only way to know how much aid you will receive is to apply. No one can tell you 'yes you will' or 'no you won't' because no one knows the policies that exist at the financial aid office at the school you will be attending or your personal financial situation. Complete the application at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/, have the results sent to the school you plan on attending, and let the aid office process your aid eligibility.

Apply and see what happens, sometimes it depends on how much money your parents made and claimed on their tax returns. Also look for Scholarships through a google search. If you got good grades you might also be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant.

You will get a bare minimum. You will be better off with a job and help with child care. Food stamps will be available if you don't earn enough money.
