Fast Web is good, if you're willing to put the time into it. I didn't, but I know people who won thousands of dollars from that website. Don't discount scholarships that are only a few hundred dollars.. those are easier to win, because less people apply, and they do add up. Good luck!

Don't forget to look around, too. There are scholarships out there for anything. You can win a scholarship for being a irish person over 6', or for having a certian last name, or for enjoying crochet. Anything, really. Just keep looking!

You have to keep in mind that FastWeb does not actual award scholarships. All it is is a collection of scholarships available to students offered by organizations from all across the country. If student's are willing to put in the time and energy to apply (and, of course, meet the qualifications) then the scholarships will get awarded. That doesn't mean that just because you apply you will get one. More often than not it is still a competitive process and the donor is going to want the scholarship to go to the best applicant.

I would suggest you do some research at your local library instead. They should have books on scholarships. Apply for some of those. Also, check with your college financial aid office for school scholarships that you can apply for. And don't underestimate the importance of a part time job.

I've never heard of anyone actually getting scholarships from fast web.
