1) Don't go to a private college then. If you can't afford it, then don't go. You can get just as great education from a state school.
2) If you don't qualify for financial aid, talk to your school.
3) If your credit sucks already, I suggest NOT getting into the private college.

While it's true that the FAFSA doesn't ask about race, the schools you apply to if they're private might have scholarships for people of a certain decent. I don't know if the previous poster has inside info or what, but in my experience $20,000 for a two-person or more home is more than eligible for financial aid. On the other hand, if you go to a private school you might not be given enough to cover it just with financial aid money, even if you get the maximum in grants and loans. Some financial aid money depends on the state you're in, also.

You can try work study at the school. You should try for government loans. They should be easier to get than from private banks. Maybe your mom and dad could co-sign.

There has to be something your bank can offer you since you are a student...it's worth a drive to the bank! If that doesn't work you could always get family and friends to help pitch in and you could work your *** off this summer.
