I was at Northumbria Uni, and quit at the beginning of Yr3 of a 4 Yr course. A year on, I have decided to give university another go, but on a different course at a different university. Does anyone know what the rules are regarding student loans? will i still be entitled? or will they be reduced? i only worked part-time during my year off.

Please help, as Student Loans Company are no help at all!!

You get 8 semesters of full time financial aid towards a 4-year degree, and only 4 semesters towards a 2-year degree. This means if you plan on finishing up a Bachelors degree then yes, you'll have 2 more years of aid. If you decide to get an Associates degree you may be out of luck.

Depending on your dependency status you are able to borrow a certain aggregate amount as an undergraduate. Your school will be able to tell you how much you have borrowed total. It will also show on your ESAR. It is NOT based on the number of semesters, however you need to be making satisfactory academic progress to keep getting loans and grants. In other words, you should be progressing toward your goal (graduation) with good grades, usually at least a 2.0. Again check with your school about their policies. They will slightly differ from school to school.
