Financial Aid

I am 16 years old and graduating early from homeschool. Im going to be taking classes through Jackson Community College for a degree in Aviation Technology. But the federal student loans only cover me for like $4,000 and I need about $40,000 over about 2 years, because the flight time is so expensive. And also I need some of the money not to be paid to the school because I can get flight time through a private club once I get my initial private licence. So if anybody knows of anything that could give me 40k with 25% or more in hand instead of the school. And also that would work for Jackson Community College, located in Jackson MI. Please let me know

I have a job so I can pay for college. My store recently went under new management. I told my new managers that I go to school and they told me they will schedule where they feel like it and my school interfers with them. I took a job so I wouldn't have to take loans. I recently took out small loans (i.e. $1000 per year). If I'm about to graduate in 2-3 years and I take these loans. Should I just quit my job and not get another one till I graduate? Also are student loans a big pain to pay back?

can anyone tell me what the current student loan consolation rate is? Do you know any lenders that will let me consolidate 45k and repay it over 20 years?

I applied for a grant online and a rep. from Alliance Consultant called me and explained that they give government grants (I'll never have to pay it back), I have to give them $298.00 and complete and send back forms and questionaires they will mail to me THEN (after 7-8 weeks for processing) if they can only get me a grant for less than $5 thousand then I get my $298 back. [It doesn't make sense to me because if you need a grant then you obviously don't have money so why pay?] Have you heard of Alliance Consultant? Does this sound legit? (I didn't give her any info. I told her I'll think about it and call her back.)

At LEAST, they should give us free tuition. I mean they didn't charge us to go to elementary, middle, or high school...why start now? Even in some other countries they allow their citizens to go to college for free, why can't we?

I wasnt approved on a standalone basis and the awaiting information is on my cosigner. I called Sallie Mae and asked was anything wrong with the paperwork but they said no that they just needed to review it. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Is this the normal waiting time? and about how long will I have to wait to find out if the loan is approved. I'd like to find out as soon as possible so that if it isn't, I can look at other options for school.

I am turning 24 next year and I plan on applying for federal aid as an independent student because my parents make too much money for any aid.

I live at home and I am going to a community college. I plan on going to a 4 year college next year.

I don't have a job. My mom is helping me out with money while I go to school.

To qualify as an independent... Will I need to move out? Or get a job and pay for my own expenses before I apply as an independent on jan. 1st?

Can I get a part time job and pay for my own expensives but still live at home?

Where can I find this kind of information anyways?

I just moved to a different state ( Ohio ) from California. I had loans in CA w/ SallieMae and with a Lender. This Semester I will be in Ohio receiving aid from a different Lender ( not Sallie Mae )
Im only going to spend 1 year in Ohio, then Im going to move back to CA and resume school.

My question is: DO I have to pay my loans that I got in CA, if I wont be attending that school for a year? Do I let my lender in CA know that I will be attending school in Ohio?? I just dont wanna make payments on my loans cause Im in school for another 4 years...lol

I was awarded stafford loan but its not enough. I'm in the process of looking for a private student loan and don't know how to deal with it. What do I ask lenders, what is a good interest rate? How much should I borrow? How do I get the money? Any suggestions, tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm 27, AA degree, no dependents and I want to return to school. I want to borrow everything I need for living expenses (student loans) and not work while I finish my last 2 years of college. I wonder if I can borrow enough money to live on for the next couple of years?

i recently moved out of my parents house on very bad terms.. they are not supporting me in terms of finances, insurance, or education. i moved in with my best friend and her family... now i am trying to figure out my options.

i can take out a loan, but was wondering who should cosign? my parents will not - but my best friend offered. being that she already has student loans, i'm not sure if thats a great option, or really how that even works. i just need to get through 3 more semesters to graduate.

also wondering - my parents will not fill out the FAFSA form. apparently i need their information.. is there a way that i can have independent status and not need their info?

any info and opinions welcome.. thanks.

I applied for financail aid and i was wondering who they will send the check too. I am borrowing money from my uncle and he is sending in the check to the school for tuition. the financail aid forms were filled out with me and my mothers information. Do you think the school will send the financail aid check to my uncle or to me and my mom? The school doesnt have any of his information except the info on the check. How does this work? FYI the tuition will be paid before the financail aid is given.
