OK, so I have already used stafford loans for college and I have done the FAFSA but I still need more to meet the cost of my tuition. I need to borrow a lot more. I've heard that alot of these private loans can rip students off with the high interest rates. What are the best loans I can get that do not have exorbitant interest rates?

I have never used financial aid before, so I'm wondering what I need to know. I certainly am poor enough and old enough to qualify on my own- what else do I need to know?

I have already filled out the FAFSA and I have an award for this semester, but the school that I intend to transfer to next semester is much more expensive. I haven't applied yet, but I was wondering do I apply for loans for next semester now or wait until after I apply to the other school or am accepted or what? I am sorta confused.

I know they're going to ask me to go through verification, and that takes awhile. So once I submitted the fafsa does it go to my school instantly?

*I'm just a bit late doing this due to my dad's death.

Both my husband and I are disabled, he has MS and I have COPD. Our bathroom and bedrooms are upstairs and is becoming more & more difficult to climb the stairs several times a day. If we could obtain the form we could apply for assistance to build a bedroom and bath on the first floor.
Thanking you in advance for any help you can give us.

I am wanting to know in the state of Texas, how can you qualify to get financial aid(NOT LOANS) ? I went to my financial aid office and they told me it goes based on my inome and my parents income, due to me not being born before 1984 and not being married or having any dependents? I am on my own everything is in my name and I pay for all of my day to day living. Does any one know if I would or could qualify to get grants or anything where I do not have to pay them back, just based on my income alone? To me it just seems a little unjust for the fact that yes I am considered an adult because I am 18, but at the same time it is like putting me back into being dependent on my parents by them wanting to combine mine and my parents income together. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET AROUND THIS!!

I'm 23 and I haven't lived with my mother since I was 19. She is now retired and my father has not filed taxes in years. I want to get as much help from them cuz I live on a very fixed income but I don't want the IRS looking for my dad and I don't know if it makes a difference if my mother is working or not. Do I need to give their information?

Although I filled out the FASFA in Februrary, I checked the status of it in April and it said "parent's signature missing," and so I tried to provide a signature with my mother's PIN since my mother is not here and I have no way to communicate with her. When I tried to use my mother's PIN I got a message that said her PIN had been deactivated and so I had to create a new one for her. So I created a new one for her and when I tried to enter the information to retrieve the new one I got a message that said the information I had entered did not match what they had on file for her. Afther May 25th I no longer had regular access to a computer since I had to leave college for the summer and stay with my grandma who has no computer. Yesterday was the first chance I got to come to the public library and look at my FASFA, and it still says "parent's signature missing," and my financial aid has not gone through, and so my college is saying I owe $7,000 even though my classes start August 27!!!

my tuition and fees are 100% paid for, and i'll be getting a refund from the school......loans and grants.
it looks like i may have to drop my classes completely. once they have refunded that money to me, can i keep it? or do they expect it back right away? obviously i know i have to repay the loans eventually. but can i use it in the meantime for other big expenses (ie; relocation)?

on paper we look econimically stable but my parents earn a low income and we have relative that help us with our house bill, Through some refinance, my parents got a large some of money in their bank acounts. My question is this, do I even qualify for Faffsa and if i do will get a good amount of money? Do your recommend that my parents take the money out for some time so that I can recieve the most money or is it a loss cause and won't recieve anything even though I desperately need it. I am sure that if parents hadn't own the house or didn't have that money in the bank I would recieve a good finacial Aid packet through Faffsa

during the fall and spring I took 20 credits but in fall I dropped 4 credit course and in spring I dropped another so out of the 20 credits I only finished 12 which put me at 60% out of the 67 that I needed to get financial aid the next year I put in an appeal saying why I dropped the classes in fall but there mainly looking at the spring one which I have no excuse for I also took 2 more classes which were 6 credits and finished which would of put me at 69% but they just told me that summer doesn't count toward the standards of academic progress and that they only look at fall and spring so my question is does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this thanks

I'm getting ready to start college as a freshman, and I was kind of thinking about taking out a student loan to get a new car. Do you think that's a bad idea? The car I have now is a 1999 Chevy Metro, and there's nothing wrong with it, I just don't feel safe driving it since it's so small and I will be driving on the highway to get to college. So my question is, do you think it's a good/bad idea to take out a student loan since you don't have to start paying it off until you graduate college? Or should I just keep my car and save me money?

I went to CDI a private College to check out a program I was interested. After writing a test, the admission representative asked me if I wanted to attend the classes and I said yes. Then she made an appointment for me to see the financial planner. She asked me to bring $100 to register plus my social security/ social insurance number. I told her that I would bring the $100 after I meet with the financial planner. That day when I went to my appointment with financial planner, I had to go to the admission representative’s office first. Before meeting with financial planner she asked me to sign a contract which I refused and she kind of became mean to me and called me a nervous person and said to me I can’t help you as I see you are hesitating. I said I need to speak to financial planner and to my parents before I sing anything. The tuition is too much and I’m not sure what to do. It seems like she is pushing me and making decisions for me. Now I have an appointment again to register on Monday, but b4 I register I want to go and sit in that class and see how the instructor is teaching. I heard he is kind of old and got an accent. How can I tell them I want to sit in that class for only 30 min. I really need to find out everything before I take further steps.

I applied online and it gave me a EFC eligibility # and I just want to know how much they will pay for. I cannot pay for college unless I get FA but no where do they tell you if they will pay for the year? The number is 1038 if anyone can help me. I am an adult so no parents income involved just mine.
