My sister is ready to go to college and they added extra expenses and she has very little time (like 2 weeks) to get her money and she has no co-signer to get a loan and her financial aid is used up. She's applied for scholarships and got all she can get there too. What else can she do?

I've just been offered a training position for a flight attendant class starting in two weeks. I didn't think I would need to leave my current place of employment however they're not really working with the time I would need off for training so I will proabably have to quit. I've got student loans to supplment income now but I'm worried about later. How do flight attendants usually do? I know the labor department statistics. I'm really interested in how flight attendants manage with the 13,000k guaranteed salary. I am willing to take the pay cut for my love of flying, I'm just not sure how to pay bills.

I am going to a community college, and I have a Stafford Loan. I know they make payouts so many times a year/semester. I'm trying to figure out if it's likely that I will get a payout before school starts (Aug. 22) I have a unsub, and sub loan. Can anyone give me an example payout schedule? Do they pay out once a semester, twice, once a month? Any input will help.

My parents are going to be cutting off the payments for my college. I know this seems a bit crazy, but they do not support me as a person, there is a lot of family problems going on, and I need to break away from this. They are always threatening to pull me out of college and how I will never succeed, and they are just always trying to bring me down. I can't live with this connection anymore.

I am a great student, I just finished my first year with a 3.4 GPA. I am in school for graphic design in New York City, and just recently even opened my own website for my work.

What can I do, where do I look? I am trying to find some kind of financial aid.

FAFSA seems best, but they require information about your parents, I really want to cut off all ties with my family and do this independently.

Anyone have any advice? Thank you.

I graduated from college two years ago, and never consolidated my student loans. I believed (possibly wrongly) that consolidating was only important if I wanted to lower my monthly rates but it wouldn't have made a difference in the total cost of my student loan. My plan was to pay off large chunks of the loan and to have it paid off quickly. Would consolidating have made a difference in my loans, and will it make a difference now even though I've been paying the loans back for two years already?

So me and this guy at work both owe more than $30,000 in student loans, and we both dropped out of school. I've been paying mine. I have them consolidated, so I have a lot of interest and I'll be paying them for a long time. But he says he's not gonna pay his until the lenders hand the loan to the government, and then he'll be forced to pay them back. BUT, he says the government won't charge interest, they'll just ruin his credit for awhile.

So basically he's saying that I could just refuse to pay back my loans until the government gets a hold of them, and then I don't have to worry about any interest. The only consequence being my ruined credit, and I don't plan on buying a house or new car anytime in the near future so that doesn't bother me.

Is this guy out of his mind or is this the perfect scheme?

I have $16,000 in student loans. I graduated in May '07 (6 months grace period ends Nov '07), and I need to know whom to trust in loan consolidation for an interest rate reduction. I have received several offers through the mail, each promising interest rate reductions (each lender uses letterheads suggestive of affiliation with my college). How can I find out the best strategy before my grace period expires ?
