I'm considering transferring from Baylor to a local University, I wanted to know if my loan period starts after I graduate, or after I transfer.

You have a 6th month grace period before you have to start paying your student loan back. If you do end up transferring to another school, just make sure you fill out an In-school deferment and have your new school sign it. As long as you have that, you will not have to start paying until you drop below at least half-time (whether it be graduating or dropping from school).

As long as you are still attending at least half-time you should not have to begin repaying at all until you either graduate, quit, or fall below half-time for 6 months. Transferring schools should not affect when you begin paying. Talk with your lender and/or financial aid department for more information.
