When I was coaching girl's softball, we had the parents work the Bingo hall. Selling the little pull tabs, and selling bingo cards. The owner gave us $10 an hour per person, but they had to work at least an 8 hour shift.
We picked up about $1200 with a car wash at a local gas station, who was kind enough to provide the water and the hoses. We did this on a Sunday when the gas station wasn't open.
Those were the best ones that we used.
I know of others that we haven't tried, like selling candy. We went to a place like Sam's Club and bought boxes of candy, and sold them in front of grocery stores or K-marts.
You can sell Christmas cards, magazine subscriptions, or even mulch. And for an extra amount even spread it on the lawns.
There are a lot of different things you can try. Most businesses are happy to help you out, it creates good will with the neighborhood.
Good luck

If you have someone to organize it, a golf tournament fundraiser would be perfect. We raised $6,000 in our last golf tournament.....that sure beats bake sales and car washes!! You do need someone who knows what they are doing, though, so start asking your cheer team parents.
