I just finished my fafsa, how long will it take for my school to get it?

I know they're going to ask me to go through verification, and that takes awhile. So once I submitted the fafsa does it go to my school instantly?

If you do it on-line it usually takes 24-72 hours to process your FAFSA and have it sent to your school. Then it depends on how often your school downloads files. Ours downloads them every day, and I'm the one that happens to do that so I'll give you an example. On the files I loaded this morning, the FAFSA information was received by the processing center on 8/4 for one student and 8/6 for another. For both they were processed on 8/7 and I received them 8/8 when I downloaded records this morning.

So if you just did it today, you could probably check with your financial aid office on 8/10 to see if it was received (and also to check to see if you were selected for Verification; if you were you can get a jump on your paperwork without them having to send you a letter and you waiting to receive it).
