Student loans don't care what you spend the money on as long as you repay the loan. That is the only thing they care about.

Many private student loans will send the money directly to the college or tech school, so you won't even see it. Others will send the money directly to you, so they can't necessarily track where you spend it. HOWEVER, if you don't want to have to start paying the loan back immediately, you will want to be in school at least half time and the company will ask for proof of that. If they find that the funds were not used for the purpose given, they can declare the loan due immediately, in full.

Aslong as you are approved and the school certifiies it, AND once all you expenses are met for that semester, you are free to do with it what you want.
