I wasnt approved on a standalone basis and the awaiting information is on my cosigner. I called Sallie Mae and asked was anything wrong with the paperwork but they said no that they just needed to review it. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Is this the normal waiting time? and about how long will I have to wait to find out if the loan is approved. I'd like to find out as soon as possible so that if it isn't, I can look at other options for school.

Because they are entering peak season things sometimes take longer. Go to your financial aid office and ask your counselor to give them a call. They can put more pressure on them to get it done. P.S. other alternative loans have MUCH better rates and NO fees.

I am not sure I understand your question fully. Are they waiting on the cosigner info? If so talk to your cosigner and ensure they have done the credit check and completed and signed the application which can be done online. Did you complete and sign you application? If not do so by going online to their website. Not sure exactly what they are reviewing.

Often the loan companies are waiting for the schools to "certify" the loan - ie. verify that you're enrolled there and that tuition costs as much as you applied for. Contact your financial aid office and see if they can assist you.
