I currently have $73,000 in student loan debt from undergrad/grad through Sallie Mae. The interest rate is 9%, and my montly payments are outrageous. After the capitolized interest, I will be paying close to $140,000 after 12 years. My great grandchildren will be paying this debt long after I am gone. What is the best way to consolidate this debt and get a lower interest rate and better monthly payments. I am living in hell right now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A friend of mine told me I could find out information about grants or funds that are out there when one is relocating for a new job and a new college. There must be some type of grant out there that could help me with my move or even a loan out there I can possibly obtain in order to move from one state to another. thank you.

Hello, I am living with my parents right now I am a sophmore in college and am really hoping to move out next year. All of my friends who are moved out are lucky enough to have there parents pay for rent. I would need to pay for rent-400 car-100 and phone-50 each month plus the cost of food and what not. I have a part time job and hope to get a better paying job over the summer. If you are a college student and working, paying for everything youseld please tell me how you do it?!?!?

She can't get a loan because she has really bad credit. She doesn't qualify for financial aid. She can get a job but that money has to go for rent and other needs. What should she do?

So about a year from now I will be applying for financial aid for college. At this moment I am currently thinking of investing money into a bank Certificate of Deposit which will last for 11 months. So by the time the CD matures it should be around October 2007. If I take out the CD as it matures in October and then apply for Financial Aid on January 2008. Would the CD that matured which I have withdraw affect the amount of Financial Aid I will be able to recieve for college?

I'm in a pre-pharm program, and I'm wondering where I can look to find scholarships to help pay for private tuition. I have several loans, and am looking for any way to help reduce my total cost for college.

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

I have been looking everywhere and can't seem to find any. So if you can help, please do. If you are just going to leave a rude or criticizing comment, please don't waste your time, because I don't care what you think...blessed be.

I heard from a friend of mine, that if you take out too many private loans for college obviously, they will terminate you from taking out another one forever until its paid off. Is this true? Because i have taken out 21,000 this year so far for school and next year i need to take out more because of room and board.....Please let me know so i can relax...the lender iam under is JP Morgan Chase

Probably not. But it was. Even at private schools. Why? Because back then (before about 1985) people wouldn't be caught dead at the financial aid office. Going there meant not just that you were poor but that your parents where some kind of farm hand or something. So only the really POOR people borrowed money for school. Then the government said they were going to make colleges "affordable" And the government does this buy loaning you poor slobs more and more money! The more money they loan and "give" you the more the tuition goes up.

Here is my question: Do you kids know that if you would all fricking REFUSE to step foot into the financial aid office COLLEGE TUITION WOULD COME DOWN SO THAT YOU COULD AFFORD IT WITHOUT FINANCIAL AID?

im on financial aid for college, and im on 14 credit hours 12 hours is fulltime. i decided to withdrawl from my biology class. just becuz i took my 3rd exam and knew that i did awful and it would ruin my chance of a good gpa. so i didnt plan on dropping until the last minute. so i went from fulltime to 3/4 time. i thought that i would only have to pay for the class that i dropped but they sent me a bill today for 1000$ i dropped two days ago(15th) and on monday im going to call the financial aid office. but whats going to happen? whats going to happen will i have to pay for all my classes or just for the one that i dropped?
