She can't get a loan because she has really bad credit. She doesn't qualify for financial aid. She can get a job but that money has to go for rent and other needs. What should she do?

Tell her to take one class at a time, work, and pay off her debts...At least she won't be wasting her time.

Scholarships are available, so she can try and get one...Anything is better then nothing...

Are you assuming that her credit will keep her from getting a student loan? Have her talk to a financial aid counselor at the school she wants to go to. If she is relatively young, it may be your parents' credit and not hers that counts. If not, student loans are often looked at differently than other types of loans; the fact that she can't get things like credit cards doesn't mean that she can't get a student loan. If she still doesn't qualify, she may need to work a little longer and save up to be able to afford college.

She can apply for Federal Financial Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov. There are student loans and grants out there for students who are interested in pursuing an education. Credit is not a factor for student loans or grants. I would also suggest that your sister files her income taxes quickly (if 23 or older). The school year for 2007-2008 is quickly approaching. The faster she submits her information, the faster she will get an answer from Federal Application for Federal Student Aid.

hi there,

there are many loans out there that do not, i repeat DO NOT depend on a credit score.. In fact, they do not even require a credit check for qualification..

The will look at a previous year W2 or tax earnings and determine eligiblilty..

I have approved people with the worse creidt even possible and had no problems getting them their money,...

Who told her she doesnt qualify?

You probably just went to the wrong lender..

My name is Jaason Fry, i work with Student Aid Lending, we are a title IV lender administered by the Department of Education, and are licensed nationwide...

Take a look at my yahoo 360 profile.. At the top thgere is a direct link to my compnay;s website... There is also alot of useful information available there...

Not that it's the most fun choice, but my husband paid for his college by first going to the military. I think it might also be part of the reserves as well. If she's really committed in going and is willing to work a little bit extra and gain a lot, then have her try that option. My husband received a lot from it as well as money to afford the education he wanted.

Hope this helps.

Apply for FAFSA - its a program that is run by the govt. - if she qualifies she may be awarded grant $ and or loans. You can check at the school she wants to go to see if they except it - if so - she can probably apply for it right there. Also search the web for scholarships that she can apply for - it's sometime writing an essay and hoping yours is picked but if it is - its free money in her pocket! good luck! She can always marry rich if that doesn't work!

Take it one step at a time, get a co-signer on a loan. Apply for as many grants and scholarships as she can.

Try financial aid again next year....

Good luck!

Get a full-time jjob and go to school part-time. Meanwhile, take care of her credit and reapply for loans. Don't take classes at a university if the class is offered at a JC. That cuts tuition costs tremendously.

Wait until she can get a loan or can afford it.
