If you are part of a church, go to your minister and explain your situation. Churches often have money budgeted to help people with things like utilities if they are in need. If you are not part of a church, you can still go to a church to ask for help. They are not going to turn you away just because you are not a member, and if they don't have money budgeted for such things, I am sure that the pastor of that church will know where to send you for help. I don't know if you are a Christian or not, but I know that churches are in the business of helping people who need it, so please don't feel embarrased or out-of-place by going there for help. I hope you get the help that you need. :)

Talk to the churches, catholic charities etc. Sometimes they will help (mine does without asking ?s) Sometimes they will only help if you have a shut off notice..First I would start with the churches...they can lead you to the right people. Most electric companies have programs that will allow you to pay some of the bill (especially in the winter time) and then spread the payments out over the next few months. I would also check with Dept of Human Services..they may have a program or can direct you

Go to the catholic church in your area and ask for the St Vincent DePaul Society. They are not supposed to turn anyone away. The most they help with here in San Antonio is $75.00 and only with a disconnect notice. Other than that, you can check your city community centers for utility assistance.

Call the utility company(ies) and see if they can make a deal with you. Tell them your situation, but tell the truth. They have heard enough BS stories to last a lifetime.

See if there is a Community Action Agency in your area. Google it.

i know of three sources that will pay your gas and/or electric -- EAF, GAF, AND HEAP. funds are pledged through social service agencies like the salvation army, catholic charities, maravilla foundation and other local agencies. call them, they will only do it once per year (that's calendar year, or every 12 mos). good luck
