I am applying for financial aid for the first time which requires that I complete a fasfa application. My problem is that I haven't had contact with either of my parents for over 6 years, and have no way to obtain the required information for the fasfa. What do I need to do so that I don't have to supply my parent's information?

I have a 3.0 GPA. I got a 27 on the ACT, and I qualify for TOPS, a local program that takes care of a large percentage of tuition. However, my parents are not in the position to pay for the rest of my education or housing, and I am not eligible for student loans because my parents don't pay their taxes, sadly. I only have about $10,000 to spend in 4 years. I plan on going to Southeastern Louisiana University (Avg. ACT: 21, Avg. GPA: 3.0)

For those of you who have dealt with this problem, do you think I will be able to pay for all this without taking out loans?

My neighbor is a 'shade tree mechanic' who is gonna take me to check out some cars at the city auction within the next few months. I told him about my situation with a student loan I wanted to take out, but no one in my family had decent credit, or they refused. This is an exra loan so I can get on my feet ($10,000)
I planned on making a down-payment on a car and put up enough for about 1-2 years of car note, pay about $1000 on other student loans and the rest will be put in a high instrest cd.
1).What are the dangers if any of letting ppl u don't really know co-sign?
2).If I do let him co-sign, how much should he get?

Ok, I am currently attending college but I only have two classes, one I have a B in and the other an F.

I have to pay the college $870.20 before I can register for spring, but I dont have that money right now.

I asked if I could withdrawal and return in spring, but they said I would have to pay the whole "spring's" tuition out of my pocket. (I only get the stafford loan...Im not eligible for grants and I dont have any scholarships).

I was going to transfer to another college next fall, but Im wondering if I should stay and pay, withdrawal and not go back and then attend the other college the next fall.

I cant do work study to pay for it anyways, and I have a job...but Im living on my own and paying my own bills. The only reason I am not able to get grants is because when I filled out the FAFSA, I was filed under my parents because I lived with them most of that year.
