I need help coming up with an abstract topic for a reflective paper. I am having the hardest time coming up with one because they are either too broad or I can't come up with enough information to classify the topic into three topics and 6 subtopics. What would be a good topic that would be fairly simple?

I have no credit, mainly because I was on a full scholarship with a stipend through undergraduate school. My car was bought upfront, so no loans there. Plus, I've never had a credit card. I DO have a cable/internet bill in my name, if that counts. I know that no credit is better than BAD credit, but it still concerns me. I want to go to a top law school, where I will probably need $40,000 a year in financial aid to get through. I know I can get Federal Stafford Loans, but will they cover all that? Any suggestions on how to get good credit FAST?

Can you please take a look at it and offer suggestions for re-wording, if appropriate? I don't want to start off by saying something boring like "please accept my resume for this position." I want the opening line to have some impact and make the reader want to continue... Here it is.

"As a certified urban planner with twenty years experience, five of which as planning director of a comparably-sized university community, I am pleased to submit my resume in application for the position of Director of Planning for the City of _____________, _____."

I have looked at tuition costs and I am trying to figure out, just from a financial standpoint, if paying a lot more to become an MD at a highly regarded school is worth it. Do you ever make up for the difference in cost of the tuition? Also, does graduating from a prestigious university make any difference in being able to choose your specialty-- such as orthopedic or cardiac surgery?
In other words, why are people willing to pay a lot more to go to expensive schools, when you can become an MD from a less expensive program?
Thank you.

This is the "Homework Help" section, not the "Homework Cheat" section. If all you're going to do is just give the answer, you might as well just offer to do it for them. When you answer a question, PLEASE explain the answer as well. Presumably, the questions are asked by people who actually want to learn. Giving them the answer without telling them where it comes from defeats that purpose quite handily.

And yes, I expect to be roundly ignored on this, but I had to try.

For years, U.S. schools haven't been instilling many students with the basic math, writing, and reading abilities they need to succeed in our world--and we're improving very little.

Oh sure, it might be helping "poor" schools bring up their test scores. But, they're not an honest, holistic assessment of students' analytical capabilities. I'm not against testing, per se. But, NCLB forces teachers to teach kids to know how to handle the test and prevents teachers from developing and strengthing the intellectual and creative abilities of their students. The VAST majority of my new college classmates still DID NOT feel prepared for college at all! Talk about large federal infringement by my fellow Republicans.

In Kentucky, where I live, schools have to meet a goal of 100 points by 2014 to be labeled as "proficient." Ky.'s testing accountability rules were changed in '07 to bring the state closer to meeting NCLB stipulations. Read here: http://www.kentucky.com/211/story/196788.html
