I need a letter of recommendation for college applications. My band director has taught me for 4 years and knows me better than any other teacher, so I am asking him to write me a letter of recommendation.
If they don't consider band an academic course, could they refuse me admission? We're not talking Ivy League or anything. My SAT score was 1520 and I'm ranked 3rd in my class.

I am currently attending a university for my freshman year of college. I am interested in transferring to UC San Diego. Someone recently told me that it is supposedly easier to be accepted as a transfer student than an incoming freshman. In addition I was told that because I live in Pittsburgh, I may be more favorably looked upon because most students at UCSD are from California, not Pennsylvania.

I'm sure this all sounds ridiculous, because it sounds the same way to me. I was just wondering if anyone can clear up these rumors. Does anyone know of any truth to these? Cite your sources if applicable.

I think they should get to keep their scholarship. Not be punished for choosing GED.Those who get their GED are just as smart as those who finish high school. My child lost their full scholarship for choosing to get a GED over a high school (GED scores are high) diploma. Isnt' this discrimination?

I've just started working at an after school program for studetns who are disabled. The disabilities are: visual (one kid is VERY near sighted), very mild retardation, hard of hearing, downs, and autistic (or a combination of these). We have a high aide/student ratio of about 4 aides to 6 students. It is proving to be a rewarding, yet VERY challenging job.

However, in the meantime, I can definitely use some ideas on how to work with these various disabilities-especially with the autism and down's syndrome.

Thanks!

I had a friend ask me this question. They said it is one word meant to convey someone who feels they are god-like (but aren't really). Apparently "false god" and "pseudo-omnipotent" are not what they're looking for.

I am the leader of a Bownie and Junior Girl Scout troop. Because of low income, most of the parents of the girls in my troop are unable to afford the cost of a Brownie uniform (approximately $57.00 before taxes and shipping) and Junior uniform (approximately $76.00 before taxes and shipping). I am desperately trying to locate some "gently used" uniforms that someone might want to donate to my girls or sell at an affordable rate. Please e-mail me at kimcreed001@yahoo.com I would really appreciate it.

I live about one mile from here. http://blogs.chron.com/schoolzone/2007/03/a_new_kind_of_white_flight_1.html

I plan to retire from my current job in 2 years. In preparation for my next career, I substitute teach once every two weeks in Houston's school district. All schools that I have ever subbed at were 75% or more, minority. Any white kid is often the only one in the class.

Most of the white kids attending a Houston public school have a beaten down look about them. Although they may be above the curve in their school, they are subpar if they were attending a school in my area. They are taught that their race is evil. The boys are picked on by minority kids who are bigger and older because they failed a grade or two. The girls are being taught to mimic the self destructive behavior that too many minority girls engage in. Later in life, these kids will feel like outsiders if they find themselves with middle class whites. Ironically, I'm able to get ALL kids to do their work.

Ayup everyone!!

English is my second language, so it sometimes happens that I'm confused or unsure about a grammar point.
Would you please be so kind to clear it up about "to be to"?
(Example: You are to come tomorrow!)
Is it only used in future cases? What's the difference with "will", "be going to" and other future markers suchlike?
I bet there's something to do with whether it's on schedule or summat as such!! ;)

Thanks a lot, mates! :)

Cheers.

I am a senior in highschool, and soon to be applying to colleges. I am interested in getting a degree in sociology, but I dont know of any colleges with a sociology program that stands out. Know of any?

If it makes any difference I am hoping to carry that degree into some type of business field when I graduate, but am not interested to get a degree in business
