If the high school diploma is = to the GED then should a schlarshp winner lose their schlrshp 4 getting a GED?

I think they should get to keep their scholarship. Not be punished for choosing GED.Those who get their GED are just as smart as those who finish high school. My child lost their full scholarship for choosing to get a GED over a high school (GED scores are high) diploma. Isnt' this discrimination?

1] should have checked the rules for accepting the scholarship
2] colleges have admission criteria - and they almost always include GRADUATING high school.They can esatablish any criteria they want, as long as it is not discriminating against anything illegal. [ sex, race, religion, ethnicity, etc. ]
3] look up the admission requirements to school involved, and whatever he/she signed to accept the scholarship - or maybe you could appeal to the scholarship committee.

No, I don't think anyone should lose their scholarship. If you go to the GED classes they are state mandated for the most part, you have to do certain work to pass the test. In my GED book it says that they are comparable to a high school diploma so if you score a decent score, you should be able to keep your GED. Or be allowed to work until your score reaches that level. Everyone deserves the right to go to college, if you have a scholarship, you should be able to keep it.

I totally agree with you. However, the agencies who give out the money ultimately have the final say in who the money goes to. If they want to give it to a green haired, left handed, purple eyed high school graduate covered in Duct tape in memory of their dead uncles cousin they can.

Keep trying and don't give up. Some schools have scholarships only for people with a GED. The link below is one called Dare to Dream, but it has limits too - It's only good at this specific college.
