I always hear that professors need to attain tenure to have their job? And that it's difficult to attain or something?

If someone wanted to be a professor, how would they go about getting their tenure? What does that even me?

Can someone explain it to me, not through wikipedia, I tried looking it up but I just go confused. I don't understand what "tenure" is!!

Doing a school project about witchcraft and background...?
I am having a bit of trouble actuially finding some info. on the background. Here are the questions I have to answer:
What was witchcraft?
Who Practiced it?
Describe the social response to witchcraft in the 16th and 17th centuries.
What social and religious factors are given to account for the harsh response to witchcraft?

I really want to go to the Wharton School of Business at UPenn for my undergrad. Do I have a shot at getting accepted?? Here are my credentials:
GPA: 3.93 unweighted (all A's in 7 AP classes... i plan on taking 4 more senior year)
National Merit Semi-Finalist (PSAT score of 215)
In the Top 5% of my class.... my school wont give out ranks
Varsity Lacrosse, Track, Chess, Science Olympiad, FBLA (future business leaders of America)
Volunteer at a Temple
Have had a job since sophomore year of high school
SATI score: 2200<-- will improve since i will take it again in 4 months

Do you believe they are allowing our children to graduate with less education, less effort, and easier classes than should be allowed? Do you think Schools do not try as hard they should and allow too little?

There needs to be the same education now as were in the 60s', 70s', and 80s'. The same strenghth and effort our teachers gave to us! Do you agree?

He got his ACT results today....and he got a 32. He has a 4.0 GPA. My mom is ecstatic about it. He basically can apply to and get into any college he wants and I imagine he'll get a lot of scholarships. Why does everything come so easily to him?

Meanwhile, I'm at a 4th tier university in my 3rd year and I don't even know what I wanna be yet.

In school, her teachers for the last three years since kindergarten have told us she will start doing it while they are standing next to her and when they walk away she will stop doing the work. We have the same problem at home, my wife has to sit there with her every second and keep pushing her to finish the work. We try explaining to her how important it is to finish your work and the quicker you do it the more time you have to play and do the things she wants. We don’t know what else we can do to get her to want to do her work. Has anyone out there ever been successful overcoming this problem?
