I always like to think of what would have happened if Europeans HADN'T conquered Africa. First of all, Europeans only colonised South Africa to any significant degree; conquering and colonising are two very different things. I wonder sometimes: what would have happened if we had left Africa to itself, and DIDN'T do anything. Many possibilities there.
