they think it'll stop bullying, but what it really stops is individuality. there's a line in a song that goes "as long as i'm safe, i’ll support legislation giving those who already have too much power, just a little more", and that's exactly what's going on when they enact these rules. they're just empowering the bullies by getting even the administration to cave in, and take away the last thing the victims have, their ability to express themselves outwardly. all that, WHILE still getting bullied as if nothing had ever changed. bullying isn't skin deep, and neither is any solution that will ever stop it. if people want the bullying to stop, quit trying to make a little safe-haven for the kids in a world that's not safe, take down the protective little cushiony walls, and let them grow up like they have for generations before. and most importantly, stop letting the bullies win. if bending the rules will only give your enemy an advantage, then don't do it. and if you think kids today "dress like fools", that's your opinion, but to take it to the level that you support taking that right away from them only supports the close-minded mentality of a world that's supposed to be so much more open-minded than our "stuffy old grandparents". note that this paragraph isn't directed to the person who asked the question.

No division between the rich-poor students, no gang colors and no wasted time in the morning to decide what to wear. I think school uniforms are great and should be required in all schools.

some people also seem to think that uniforms help students think less about fasion and more about school work, therefore they do better in class.

less pressure on the students to have fashionable dress. easy to identify them on a school field trip. simple for parents. cheaper than other clothes. reduces kids making fun of others whose families have less money. reduces the shame of poverty. reduces the competition in fashion. reduces pressure on parents to buy expensive clothes.
