By the time a child is 11 years old, they should have the same grammar found in adults who are their speech models (usually parents and teachers). They will continue to develop vocabulary and reading skills. All speech sounds should have developed and blended into conversational speech by about the age of 8.
Some five year-olds may have immature speech sounds that are later developing, such as sh, ch, l, r, er, dg, j, and s.
