UMass Amherst, because of its size alone, has a lot to offer in terms of fun. And it has plenty of parties, if that's what interests you. There isn't a big Greek scene, though. Parties do happen in frats, but also just in the dorms and etc. But it's not like social life there is ruled by partying, by any means. It's a fun school, but students there are really students, and it's a competitive school to get into, and academically well respected.
Other schools with good reps for their social scene include Boston University, Boston College, Harvard, Northeastern, Brandeis, Clark, Holy Cross, Hampshire, Tufts, Williams, Wellesley, Smith. None of these are known as "party schools", and some of them are really tough, academically (so have serious students), but all have a very strong social life outside of class. What helps all these schools have good social scenes is that they have real campuses, and dorms, and a lot of students stay on campus on the weekends, rather than going home. Some have frats, some have big sports scenes, but all have a nice social life.
So when you look at schools, especially for Massachusetts (which tends to have schools that are really strong academically, and thus aren't well known as party schools) make sure you look for schools that have a residential campus, and where students tend to stick around for weekends, and where there is a strong social life, both on and off campus.

Yes -- I have an idea.
Grow up!
If that is your criteria for choosing a college, you should just get a job as a clerk and smoke dope in your basement with your loser friends. Going to college with your attitude will not help you or your potential classmates.
