After using the same static greetings for years, Hello, Hi, Hullo, Heylo, ect. I feel in desperate need for a change.

Whats are some interesting variations on hello, and by this I don't mean a different language.

My guy is reading a Patricia Cornwell novel at the mo and last night he asked me what on earth a 'tow head' was! I had never heard of it before so I looked it up in the OED but, alas, to no avail.

The character in the book was telling her fictional partner that she had seen several young guys at the beach and she said that all of them 'looked like tow heads'?

Anybody got any ideas?
Cheers in non-arrears!

I'm a sophomore at university, and still have no major. I have no idea what direction i want to go in. I'm interested in a lot of things, but couldn't make a career out of any of them. I was thinking about traveling for a semester or so to see what else the world offers outside the US. Any other ideas?

I'm a sophomore in college, and I still have no major. I hinted at being a business (marketing or MIS, possibly) major, but I slowly got turned off from that. I have no idea what I want to do for the rest of my life. I'm interested in a lot of things, but nothing that I could turn into a career. I was wondering if I should take a year or semester off from college, maybe do some traveling, and maybe get to know myself better. Maybe when I come back i'll have some idea of what I want to do with my life. Do you think this sounds like a good idea?

One interpretation reads that the song held odd and unrelated lyrics, possibly from a poem by Reid about boy/girl relationships that used sailing metaphors, which were a pun on or spoof of the psychedelic songs written at the time which had bizarre metaphors and droll phrases. - SO WHAT HELP IS THAT!!!! -- I've still no idea - do you?

I am an out of state student w/ a relatively low GPA (like a 3.2 unweighted), but I have very high (90th percentile) SAT and SAT subject test scores. I have had my essay looked over by 3 english teachers at my school, and all of which said it was excellent. I am also involved in an after school club, I have job experience, and hours of volunteer work under my belt. I was just wondering if I have a chance of getting in, even w/ a low GPA? The admissions officers kind of beat around the bush when I ask them about the admissions process and such. Any input is appreciated!!

I am a junior in college. My dream was to always go to the University of Michigan and major in some type of business. U of M may be out of the question do to my poor grades in my freshman and sophmore year, but I still am going to college. Anyway I have always been the type of kid who made money various types of ways, rather it was starting a small profit business on eBay or trading and selling different items. Problem is I dont know all the business classes and how they work. Only class I really know is business management, but I hear people dont want managers out of high school. For someone who has wanted to go to college and major in some form of business I should be a little bit more knowledgeable in these areas. So I'm guessing this is my first step. What I'm trying to ask you guys to do (any one with spare time. this is a lot to ask) is to list the different type of business degrees with mabye a little information on them on the side (Job opportunity, detailed info on the class).

I have been stressed out for a long time trying to find out what this means for my project. Can somebody help me? Here is the passage:

In the passage from East of Eden, John Steinbeck describes all literature as one story of good and evil: "We have only one story. All novels, all poetry, are built on the never-ending contest in ourselves of good and evil. And it occurs to me that evil must constantly respawn, while good, while virtue is immortal. Vice has always a new fresh young face, while virtue is venerable as nothing else in the world is."
