In a very few cases, the scores are recorded as a letter grade and then would be calculable in the GPA (example: Excelsior College grades some CLEP exams)

In most cases, a CLEP exam is recorded on your transcript with no effect on the GPA just as a pass/fail class would be. There is no fail however since the college wouldn't even record a failed exam attempt since it won't transfer.

My latest transcript (for my BA Music) listed the grade as ECL for Exam, CLEP. No GPA impact whatsoever. My Excelsior College transcript listed all but one of mine with a grade of P and no GPA impact. One was graded "A" and counted in the GPA.
