There are ten socks of each of the following colors in a drawer: blue, green, red, yellow, and white--a total of 50 socks. If the socks are randomly distributed in the drawer, and you are blindfolded, what is the minimum number of socks you must draw from the drawer in order to be certain that you have at least two socks of the same color?

Follow-up question: if you were in the same situation as above, how many socks must you draw from the drawer in order to be certain you have at least two socks of different colors?

I'm a college bound junior who is interested in pursuing teaching English. I was thinking either high school, or 7th and/or 8th grade. Does any one have suggestions (from experience) of good colleges with excellent Education/English Programs. Maybe even warnings against some?
I'd be much obliged if this was from people with personal experience. Thank you.

This is always a "me against the world" debate every Christmas season since everybody looks at the obvious -- "her" refers to the earth as the subject which is considered female (mother earth). But if one looks at the all the lyrics and the sentences or phrases, you will see a different type of english, e.g., "...the Lord IS come", "let every heart prepare HIM room". I am no language expert so I need somebody to back me up and say "let earth receive HIM king". On the other hand I tried to look at all the music books, etc., even pay special attention to projection screens in churches when the carol is sung, and always see "her". Any english or language teacher out there?

HOMEWORK HELP !
Grade: 7
Thanks in advance...here is what I need help for...

1. SCIENCE: Why does YEAST grow better in warm water? Also, in a flask filled with 15 cubic centimeters of sugar and 3 cubic centimeters of dry yeast, can anything else BUT carbon dioxide be produced?

2. GLOBAL STUDIES: I need a creative title for this phrase: "Top Five Hot Spots of 2007".

The "Hot Spots" are the most deadly places on Earth. Here are the Hot Spots: 1. Iraq, 2. Botswana (woman life span: 33), 3. Darfur, Sudan (genocide), 4. Possible WWIII? - Kashmir, India - battle of the religions? India (Hindu) vs. Pakistan (Islam), 5. Possible WWIII? - Taiwan Strait (where is that anyway?) - Taiwan is a little country. A larger, more powerful army has come to attack them. But, a LAAAARGER country comes to attack them: it's a bird, it's a plane, no, it's...THE U.S.! Taiwan is our friend.

I just need a good title for 2. The Hot Spot stuff was just a little background info.

Again, thanks in adv

I didnt do well in the december LSAT b/c of an accident. I only got a 154. I dont want to take the Februrary one b/c i want to go to law school in 2007.

My question is, is it true that if I go to an average law school and do very well in it, it's not that difficult to transfer to a prestigious law school after the 1st year? Is it feasible this way? B/c even if I retake the LSAT and got a 180, the average is only 167 and I have to wait until next year. So is transferring a good solution in my situation?

Thanks a lot!!

I have just volunteered to take over a class from an experienced ESL teacher. Yikes! I have some lesson plans from esl-images.com and some other information. I am looking for good, practical advice to get started teaching classes. I am not a teacher by profession but have taught internal courses for my companies before. Good ESL web sites are welcome too.
