It's really good to teach her both languages. Children who hear more than one language before the age of 5 have a much easier time learning other languages later in life. I learned this from my aunt, an expert -- she owned and taught at a preschool for 20+ years.
And don't worry that your daughter won't know which language to speak. Kids figure things out very quickly, especially when it comes to language. Sometimes I think our kids are smarter than we are!

I teach 3-5 year olds. Many of my students come from Latino households where Spanish is the only language spoken. My students have decided themselves that Spanish is for home and English is for school. I am encouraging them to use Spanish at school as well if they are comfortable with it. (They are teaching me!) They love when we count or do little lessons or stories in Spanish. It seems to give them a sense of pride. Sometimes they do mix the languages at first, but they do catch on very fast and correct themselves. I would say, start now and teach your child both languages. It is much easier now than later. (I have also worked with children who have learned 3 languages at 3 years old!)

I would start teaching both languages as soon as possible. A child who develops language normally has the capacity to learn both languages at the same time. Use both languages in the home. However, if you find that your child is having difficulty with one or both languages, stick to English.

By ALL MEANS TEACH HER BOTH!!!
I would start teaching her primarily with English. Being that English is the language here in the U.S. I would start grafting in Spanish as soon as she is able to decipher between the two yet connect them with each other.
You don't want her to know certain words only in Spanish and when she starts preschool no one may know what she is saying which may be frustrating for her.
As she gets older she will be able to understand more, but it is always good to start early.
Best of luck to you both!

I speak english and my husband speaks another foreign language, and we have an 18 month old son and he is not really saying any words, our doctor says he may be confused because he hears two languages and it may take him longer to learn how to speak, but she says the benifits of him knowing more than one language is very good, my son makes more sounds that sound like my husbands language, then english. Every child is different in how they learn so your child may be able to pick up on both i would say both.

Sure I would teach her both, it will go a long way in life. Maybe teach her english as her first language and then slowly teach her spanish.

Children can grow up to be bilingual only if they hear both languages with separate vocabulary and grammar. Your husband should speak English to your kid, and you Spanish. You can't mix up the languages in the same sentence, such as "Quiere milk?, or "Let's go in el carro".
Kids can be a little delayed, but catch up rapidly once they know at least 50 words in each language.
Be sure you both read to your child in your native language.

You should teach her both languages. She will thank you later, I promise. I'm trying to do the same w/all three of my kids but I do regret waiting. I should have started when my youngest was born. She's doing good, but she doesn't pick up as quick as the 2 yr old. So do both.

I would try to teach her both at the same time. Children are very adaptable and she will learn when to use each language.
If you are comfortable in both languages, then read to her in both. Watch TV in both languages. If she is exposed to both, she will learn both.
