I didnt do well in the december LSAT b/c of an accident. I only got a 154. I dont want to take the Februrary one b/c i want to go to law school in 2007.

My question is, is it true that if I go to an average law school and do very well in it, it's not that difficult to transfer to a prestigious law school after the 1st year? Is it feasible this way? B/c even if I retake the LSAT and got a 180, the average is only 167 and I have to wait until next year. So is transferring a good solution in my situation?

Thanks a lot!!

Can you score a 180? To be honest, if you can make that big of a jump, I'd honestly just wait a year. Do something to gain experience in an area you like. That way, it'll be easier for you to get that first law school internship.

Yes, you can transfer if you do well. However, only a small handful of people end up transfering each year. Some with great grades stay b/c being the top at an average school is usually better than being average at a better school.

There's no guarantee that you'll do well in law school. Especially well enough to transfer to a very prestigious one. You're seriously taking a big chance.

There's a huge jump btw a 154 and a 167. If you know you can score much higher, I'd seriously just wait that year and apply with both scores. The law schools will see the much higher score. If you take the Feb. one, they'll see that only a couple months passed btw the two scores and that the bad one was likely due to some accident.

Since you're banking on doing very well in law school, I'd rather wait a year and take the chances of good grades at a prestigious law school rather than save a year and take that risk at a mediocre one.

It's not true.

Some schools will take the February LSAT, but they're few and far between. Also, odds are your score will NOT go up that much. The LSAT sucks. I hated it. I feel your pain.

Prestige it's not where it's at. Money is where it's at: Scholarship money. See where your LSAT numbers will get you a full ride. A 154 was good enough for a full ride at one law school that I know of, Appalachian, last year.

The prestige and the career in biglaw is only for a very few. Go to the cheapest place you can, knock it out and get admitted.
