I'm a college bound junior who is interested in pursuing teaching English. I was thinking either high school, or 7th and/or 8th grade. Does any one have suggestions (from experience) of good colleges with excellent Education/English Programs. Maybe even warnings against some?
I'd be much obliged if this was from people with personal experience. Thank you.

a I am an eighth grade English teacher. The rewards are super. They are no longer little kids, but they aren't full blown teenagers either... and we know what headaches those years can bring. All reputable state colleges and universities have above average programs. I did my undergraduate and graduate work at a Texas university, Sam Houston State University. I do not know your state, but going on line can reveal costs as well as programs. As far as teaching goes, I applaud your decision. There is never a dull moment. Your coworkers will be as dedicated as you... and best of all, working with all of those remarkable and diverse personalities every day is rewarding although a real eye opener. Unlike many careers where the days drag on, teaching is so unlike that! You are busy every minute... and they will so appreciate what you do for them. They may not always show it, but little notes left on your desks will tell you more. Good luck, my friend, you are answering to a higher calling.

College of St. Catherine in Minnesota. My friend is in the teaching program there and it is highly praised.
