If you think of all A's equaling 4.0, all B's as 3.0, all C's as 2.0, all D's as 1.0, and all F's as 0, then you have a little less than an all B average. (Probably mostly B's, maybe a few A's, but some C's that bring your average down). You need to bring your average up a bit (over 3.0), but you're doing well if you brought your grades up that much. Universities look at lots of things in addition to grades. You need to have decent ACT or SAT scores. Maybe using a prep book or course for that would help, as a good score may balance out your grades. Maybe do some volunteer work or extracurricular activities, as long as they don't detract from your studies, as universities like well-rounded students. Work on your writing skills, too, as a good personal statement on applications can help get you positive attention from admissions people.

2.8 is about a B- or C+ average. This could be good enough to get you into the major that you want to pursue. Call up the admissions office at the college you want to go to and ask to speak with an advisor about the entrance requirements for that program. Like the folks answered earlier... try to get your GPA to 3.0 or higher by the end of the Spring semester.... and it wouldn't hurt to do some volunteering over the summer time (something related to the Criminal Justice field).

It's not great. You definitely want to be over 3.0 if you want to go to a decent school. If I were you I would really try to get your GPA up, and make sure you do well on the ACT or SAT. If you do well on those tests it can offset your lackluster GPA.
I started off with really good GPA's my first three years so I could slack off my senior year and not worry about grades as much. I think you have to do the exact opposite. You definitely should go to a 4 year college though, it is the time of your life.

2.8 isn't horrible, but study hard and try your best during your senior year. If you can get it up to a 3.0 or higher, you'll have a better shot at getting into a good college. Good luck!!!

The fact that you brought it up from 2.3 to 2.8 is fantastic and you should be proud of yourself!! I'd work on trying to get it up to 3.0 (4.0 is usually the highest GPA). Keep up the great work!!

It's OK, not great.
Better get some good volunteering experience or a job...and keep your grades up as much as possible. College acceptance isn't based solely on grades, but since yours are pretty much average, you'll have to do other things to distinguish yourself and make it clear you're a good choice for the school.
But it's good that you improved.

On a 3.0 scale it is quite good; On a 4.0 scale it is mediocre.

Not too good, although in high school you might get by with it with decent SATs or equivalent. However, I would really try and get better grades in college. Those will very likely matter on interviews for your first job or two.
