Okay I need to present a speech for my gr.8 class but I don't have a debate speech topic!
Any ideas? Not the basic abortion, war, global warming ones. Something creative? :D

I was thinking about doing something on school massacres (shootings) but I don't know how I can make that a debate and I don't know if that would be appropriate.

so please HELP.

Discuss how you would approach creating a negative message for a superior (such as a manager at work or an instructor) versus creating a message for a colleague, subordinate, or fellow student.

How would I do this. I am really having a hard time with this class. I would appreciate if someone could help with this question.

I hate school. I use to be a A & B student. Now I'm in freshman year getting C's and D's. I dont know whats wrong with me. It's VERY hard to get me to do homework (As I speak I have homework due). I think its because im addicted to playing video games on the computer. I always seem to be doing that instead of homework. Also, I feel very pressured and nervous at school. Has this happened to anyone? If there anyway to motivate me to do homework? Im begging for help. God bless anyone who helps me out.

3 men go to a hotel. They share a room for $30 a nite. They each give $10 and go up to their room. The manager calls the bellhop over and says he charged the men too much for their room. He asks the bellhop to take 5 loonies up to the 3 men's room and give the $5 back to them. Bellhop goes up the men's room, knocks on the door and presents the men with the five loonies and tells the men they were charged too much for their room. The 3 men say "just give us each 1 loonie and you keep the other 2."
So,now what did each man pay for their room? 10-1=9...Each man paid $9...3x9=27...plus the Bellhop's $2 for a grand total of $29. What happened to the other $1??

Enterprise
According to a research, Chinese students lack enterprise. Hence, they can’t achieve more. Today’s society is a knowledge society. If one wants to succeed, he/she should attain more. To my eye, a good college student has to be aggressive in today’s competitive society. Enterprise is the most important personal quality a university student requires for success in today’s society.

A person, who lacks enterprise, will be self-satisfied with himself/herself. Therefore, he/she will achieve nothing. For example, the Chinese talented youngster, Fang Zhongyong, could write poems when he was five. However, he lacked enterprise and was just satisfied with himself. He never learned how to write better poems from then on. As a result, he became an ordinary people when he was twenty years old. He failed in leading(是LIVING?) a successful life.
On the contrary, people who have enterprise will achieve their goals and make something of themselves even though they are not gifted. For example, Helen Keller, a handicapped person, succeed in her life and earned her fame. Helen Keller can’t see, can’t hear and can’t speak. It is very difficult for her to lead a normal life. However, Helen was aggressive; she had her heart set on knowledge. When she knew a new word, she was eager to learn another one. As a result, she was famous for her achievement in writing.
Another enterprising person is Albert Einstein. He was considered to be foolish when he was a child. What’s worse, his teachers looked down upon him. However, he had enterprise and worked hard at what he interested in. In 1905, he evolved the theory of relativity. At that time, he earned his fame. He was not content with his achievement and still worked hard. Thanks to his enterprise, the quantum theory came out. Being aggressive enabled Einstein to achieve more and succeed in society.

From what I said above, I can conclude that enterprise is the key to succeed in today’s society. Enterprise can inspire people to learn more and achieve more. Contemporary college students are surplus since the government enlarged the enrolment for colleges. College degree has lost its magic. As a result, college students face an intense competition. Hence, only when they master more knowledge and achieve more can they make it in today’s society.

I need to know what the lowest salary was that workers on the Panama Canal were paid. The book that I have says that middle class made $100 per month, and engineers fresh out of college could make $250 a month, but it doesn't say anything about the lowest paid caribean workers. If anyone knows how much they made, please tell me (and give me the source). I need to know this desperately. Thanks :)

There's not suppose to be a question mark after that.

"20 years of darkness, 7 days of hell, a lifetime of....."

This is a quote on the Navy SEALs. 20 years is the average age of a SEAL candidate who goes in not knowing much about himself (darkness), 7 days of hell is the famous "hell week" (google it), and a lifetime of... what? I was sort of thinking "enlightenment", but it doesn't quite cover all the bases like I would want it to. It's generally a word based on being more wise, not just mentally but physically too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
