I hate school. I use to be a A & B student. Now I'm in freshman year getting C's and D's. I dont know whats wrong with me. It's VERY hard to get me to do homework (As I speak I have homework due). I think its because im addicted to playing video games on the computer. I always seem to be doing that instead of homework. Also, I feel very pressured and nervous at school. Has this happened to anyone? If there anyway to motivate me to do homework? Im begging for help. God bless anyone who helps me out.

How can I give up on video games? This game called "Maplestory" has ruined me. It's more addicting then tabbaco.

First I'll address the video game thing...they can be EXTREMELY addictive. Once in high school my boyfriend played a video game for about 3 days STRAIGHT. Didn't come out of his room, go to school, call me or anything! Luckilly that was just a one-time event for him, but if you really feel like you have a problem you need to get some help. I think its great that you can admit that you are powerless to the video games, and it seems like you don't want to continue this behavior. This could fuel many problems later in life socially, emotionally, and professionally, so its best to target it now before things get out of control. I know this may sound awful, but you need to talk to your parents, and if not them another adult whom you can trust and confide in. You need someone to keep you responsible to help you get over your addiction, not to mention you would really, really benefit from some therapy. Don't be afraid to tell people you need HELP!

As far as the hating homework and school, I totally feel you. I was an excellent student until I got to high school, and then when I became a freshmen my grades went way, way down, until my junior year, but by then I'd already messed up my overall GPA. Some people just don't function well in high school...the homework is awful, ridiculous, and tedious. My teachers would be sad to see my good test grades, excellent writing skills, and evidently good IQ go to "waste" because I never did my homework, slacked off, and my attendence left much to be desired. Just try to think positively and know YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS. High school will come and go and it will be such a relief when its over. After I graduated I went to community college where I got EXCELLENT grades and did a lot of extracurriculars. College was a breath of fresh air for me. I got to study topics I actually liked, didn't have to be there as much, and wasn't plagued with tedious busy work or much homework. Know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and you might be someone like me who just doesn't learn well or benefit from the structure of public high school education, but there's still so many opportunities for you to succeed in life. Now I am a transfer student at USC, a really good college, and I've come a long way. My best advice to you is to find something you love, outside or inside of college to keep you motivated and going. For me it was theatre, and you need to find a passion or a hobby in life. Also, if you get help for the video game addiction, and take the effort you put into that and put it towards school you will be happier and your grades will go up. If you at least can pull it up to Bs and Cs thats something to definitely feel good about. I wish you the best of luck.

Try to make a structure for yourself. Keep the games in your life, but tell yourself that you can't play unless you do you homework or stay after school an extra hour and do the homework before going home. The change into High School is always hard, but remember the school is what is goingt o help you in 5 years not the videogame. You do not want to be a low life, non-working gamer in 5 years. If you were getting A's and B's then you are a fantastic student and just need motivation. Get some study partners and do your homework with them. Talk to you parents about it too. I was a bad student in 9th and 10th grade. I never went to school and I paid for it by having to go to school and extra year and getting transferred to an alternative school. I pushed myself really hard the last two years I had in school or I would have been there 2 1/2 extra years not just one.

Where are your parents at this time? I can assure you that when my own teens (at the time they were teens) were playing Video Games and NOT doing the schoolwork (and I saw the grade reports) ... that I TOOK the Video Game Machine and Games Away, LOCKED them in the Attic (and I had the only key) .. and the only way they would EARN back any time on the Video Game Unit was to BRING UP THEIR GRADES and SHOW me that the homework was DONE!

I hated school and I have a Masters degree now. Here is the key. First you need to learn better study skills. It is not enough to study, you have to study right. Second use the video games as a reward for when you finish. If you study hard you might actually create video games some day, otherwise you might be playing them when you are 40 er wait, anyway, go to your counselor at school and tell them you want to develop better study habits/ skills.

You sound just like me. My freshman year is downfalling from my 4.0 middle school. Right now to motivate me to do my homework is trying to look after my future careers and goals. I also try to limit my time on the computer and do only half and hour of my favorite game to get me energized for homework. Good luck with life.

YEAH MAPLESTORY ROCKS MAN!!!!!!! lol i used to be addicted to it, now am in top class and am a student leader =D, anyway, the trick is denying yourself any access at all to maplestory, just ask your parents to stop you from playing maple or something like that.At first you would feel restless and have nothing to do, but soon enough you would adapt to not being able to play maplestory. It's kinda like going through cold turkey, just as maple is as addictive as tobacco, its also as hard to quit as tobacco

Nobody tells teenagers what a horrible time of life it is. All that new crap in the brain...horny, nervous, insecure, pimples, shoes, how many pages???Tell your parents you want some help changing your behavior and ask them to help you lay off the games, say, for a week. I'm 58 and many of my friends haven't figured out yet how to do whats good for them instead of what feels good. There's a saying, "pray for what you need, not what you want". Feel free to email me if you like.

Maybe you are depressed? If you seek it out, there may be study groups you can join so you can do your homework at school instead of trying to do it at home. Then when you go home you can play on your games.

Talk to your parents and teachers, maybe they can come up with some ideas for you. Also, if you let them know that you are having trouble, they are more likely to be understanding with regard to your difficulties and to help you.
