If they are still in school they would be a student. To be more specific - if they are working towards a bachelor's degree you could also call them undergrads. After earning a bachelor's degree they would be called graduate (grad) students while working on a Master's or PHD program.

A matriculant is someone who is enrolled (usually meaning in college or university, working toward earning a degree).

I cannot think of a direct opposite if the person is still in school. It would depend of what kind of school..high schol or college. He/she who still be a student and not a dropout. My cousin is life long student. She never matriculated or graduated. every year she take one/two course just to learn something.
